Megyn Kelly continues on her journey to rock bottom.
The former rising-star of Fox News has massively stumbled in her switch to liberal NBC – failing miserably to take her once-loyal followers with her.
And now her new show is failing so miserably, it’s amusing.
Megyn Kelly’s arrogance is unbearable.
In the wake of her sexual harassment accusations of Roger Ailes, Kelly thought she was bigger than the Fox News network that so graciously gave her a career.
She was so conceited that she thought her fans would follow her regardless of which news channel she was on.
But her premiere episode of Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, where she interviewed with Russian President Vladimir Putin, was met with horrible ratings.
Which was for one of two reasons – either nobody cared about the Trump-Russia conspiracy, or Kelly isn’t the star that she (and NBC) thought she was.
Sadly for Kelly, her ratings decline was obviously about her “star power” since less and less people have watched her show every week.
And her latest episode was a doozy.
Breitbart reports:
“NBC’s Megyn Kelly could not even get 3 million total viewers this week, hitting another new low as her sunday newsmagazine show’s ratings continue to plummet.
Because of NASCAR’s rain-delayed and caution-filled Brickyard 400 race on Sunday, Kelly’s show aired at 9 p.m instead of 7 p.m.
But she could not hold some of NASCAR’s audience, as Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly got just 2.71 million total viewers, down from her previous low of 3.1 million total viewers last week, according to Nielsen data.
She slightly improved in the 18-49 demo, getting a .5 rating compared to her .4 rating the previous two weeks. But, as Breitbart News has noted, absence did not make the heart grow fonder for Kelly.
Kelly took a week off during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, and she has failed to beat the years-old Dateline rerun that ran that weekend in total viewers and the key demo since her return.
That years-old Dateline rerun got 3.73 million total viewers and a .5 rating in the key demo.
Since Kelly’s return, she has gotten 3.21 million total viewers, followed by 3.1 million total viewers, followed by 2.71 million total viewers.
Though her show aired two hours later this week, it again got fewer viewers than reruns of 60 Minutes and America’s Funniest Home Videos.
As Breitbart News has pointed out, “Kelly’s disastrous ratings, in adition to giving Matt Lauer job security, have led executives to wonder whether her Sunday night program will even come back on the air after football season.”
Politico has confirmed that Kelly will now get an NBC morning show that will debut Sept. 25th at 9am with a live studio audience.
Which means, since NBC is stuck in a $15 million per year contract with her and their executives don’t have the confidence in her resiliency to bring her Sunday night ratings back up, they are desperate to shake it up and hope people watch.
But it’s not looking good.
Not only is NBC regretting their decision, but Kelly is reportedly so desperate she even reached out to a foe for advice.
Life & Style magazine noted:
“With ratings for her new NBC show Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly getting lower and lower, things are not looking good for Megyn Kelly.
People are not tuning in as expected to watch the once popular journalist, and along with her slipping numbers, sources reveal exclusively to Life & Style that Megyn’s spirits are also dropping.
‘Megyn’s really worried,’ an NBC source says. Megyn, 47, ‘has been reaching out to former Fox Newscolleagues, including Sean Hannity, but Sean hasn’t returned her calls.’”
Given Hannity and Kelly’s rocky relationship, it’s doubtful he’ll even return her call.
The desperation is thick over at NBC, and it looks like that $15 million was a complete waste.
