Sports writers are letting their liberalism bleed into their work.
Their work is becoming stridently leftist and it’s turning off millions of Americans.
The latest example is one NBC baseball writer making a sickening attack on the American flag.
Sports writers used to take care to keep their work focused on the action between the lines.
But since the left demands everything be political, sports journalism has adopted an increasingly harsh left-wing tone.
That came into focus when NBC sports writer Craig Calcaterra attacked the display of the American flag before baseball games.
He complained that honoring the symbol of America was “political.”

The American flag would only be “political” to liberals.
They despise outward displays of patriotism.
Many in the media cheered when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick disrespected America’s veterans by refusing to stand for the national anthem.
So it’s not surprising another lefty sports journalist complained about symbols honoring America’s military after 9/11.
@garyc22 @DiamondStarsGM They were never done before 9/11. The last three administrations have done this and it's all fairly unprecedented.

Flyovers and flags are not meant to support foreign wars or the politicians who support them.
Politicians are routinely booed at sporting events and no one bats an eye.
While the Iraq War was raging, George W. Bush was booed by Washington Nationals fans when he threw out the first pitch at their home opener.
While Calcaterra notes that displays of patriotism at sporting events have increased after 9/11, no one accused any of the major sports leagues of backing the Iraq War.
And if they were intended to gin up support of that conflict, it failed miserably as Americans turned against the war and the politicians who started it.
But the flag and the idea that men and women of the U.S. military put their lives on the line so the rest of us can enjoy Opening Day is not a political statement.
It’s a statement that should be unifying.
But the leftist sports media must infuse politics with every part of Americans lives.
