Wokeness has completely taken over mainstream culture.
Saying the wrong thing could ruin the career of a public or private figure.
And one Hollywood celebrity who loves cancel culture just got some bad news.
Hollywood celebrity Chrissy Teigen and her husband, musician John Legend, love playing the part of “woke” scolds.
They use their large platforms to hammer Republicans and conservatives for their beliefs.
But Teigen’s past as a mean girl on Twitter is coming back to bite her.
Someone who upholds cancel culture is now being canceled.
From Breitbart:
“Model and Joe Biden supporter Chrissy Teigen has dropped out of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever after it was revealed that she told fellow model Courtney Stodden to commit suicide when Stodden was an underage teenager, being groomed by actor Doug Hutchison…The news comes after it was revealed last month that Teigen had previously told Stodden to take ‘a dirt nap,’ and expressed that she couldn’t wait for her to die.”
In addition to losing the Netflix gig, Teigen no longer has brand sponsorships with Bloomingdale’s, Target, and Macy’s.
Teigen issued a public apology to Stodden, but never reached out to her privately.
Teigen tweeted:
“I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am…And I am so sorry I let you guys down. I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.”
But Teigen was a grown woman when she made those horrific comments.
There’s no excuse for telling a 16-year-old girl who’s clearly in an abusive relationship that she should kill herself.
Stodden did not accept her apology.
Teigen and Legend have been two of the most “woke” celebrities in Hollywood.
They both had many public fits of Trump Derangement Syndrome over the past five years.
Legend went so far as to defend the violent street gang MS-13—whose credo is “rape, control, kill”—in order to attack Donald Trump for his immigration policies.
Both are also big supporters of the Marxist Back Lives Matter movement.
Teigen’s “cancelation” should be a warning to the Left that anyone can be susceptible.
It doesn’t make sense to build a society without any grace and forgiveness.
But the Left hasn’t learned any lessons.
They either argue that cancel culture doesn’t exist, or they simply call it “accountability culture.”
The left-wingers coming to Teigen’s defense need to acknowledge that conservatives and Republicans have been warning against this for years.
But leftists don’t care about hypocrisy and double standards.
They cannot be shamed into having intellectual consistency.
Perhaps they’ll leave cancel culture behind when enough of their beloved figures get thrown on the proverbial chopping block.
The Left hit pause on the #MeToo movement when Joe Biden was in the crosshairs, so they’re capable of abandoning their principles whenever it’s necessary.
