Disrespecting the American flag has become en vogue.
Professional athletes are going out of their way to show their disdain for the country.
But a former NFL player went on Fox News and ripped one anti-American protest to shreds.
Gwendolyn Berry came in third in Olympic trials for the hammer throw, and made the U.S. Olympic team.
Berry will represent America in the Tokyo games.
That would’ve been the story had Berry not gone out of her way to disrespect the national anthem.
The Star-Spangled Banner began playing (at scheduled time of 5:20 p.m.) when Berry and the other competitors were at the podium.
Berry was so offended that she turned away from the flag and covered her head with a T-shirt.
It was a disgraceful act, which of course meant the Left celebrated it.
But former NFL player and Army Ranger Jake Bequette was not at all pleased.
Bequette said on Fox News:
“I was very blessed to be able to play football for the University of Arkansas and for the New England Patriots. And standing there on the sideline before a game watching that flag wave and the national anthem play always filled me with pride.”
However, denigrating the flag has somehow been labeled an act of heroism—and even patriotism—by leftist radicals ever since former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled for the anthem.
Bequette continued:
“And wearing that flag on my shoulder serving in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division was the greatest honor of my life.”
Leftists claim they are not disrespecting the flag, the country, or the troops, simply protesting fill-in-the-blank.
This is a common tactic of the Left.
They rarely confess their hatred for America, but it comes out in certain moments.
Disdain for the country has become so normalized within the Democratic Party that not even Joe Biden, the president of the United States, would critique Berry’s actions.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said:
“I know [Biden] is incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents. He would also say that part of that pride in our country means recognizing there are moments where we, as a country, haven’t lived up to our highest ideals, and means respecting the right of people granted in the Constitution to peacefully protest.”
Berry isn’t even the first Olympic competitor in the past few weeks to disrespect the country.
Transgender BMX racer Chelsea Wolfe, who made the Olympic team as an alternate, threatened to burn the American flag on the podium at the Olympics.
The radicalism of the Left knows no bounds.
Apparently there is nothing too extreme, not even chanting “death to America” in the streets.
Bequette added:
“It makes me very upset to see some athletes and even President Biden blatantly disrespecting our flag and the great country that flag stands for. So if Gwen Berry wants to, you know, if she hates this country so much, then she should quit the U.S. Olympic team and go compete somewhere else.”
It’s absurd that an Olympic competitor standing for the American national anthem is too much to ask.
