It’s genuinely hilarious how liberals embraced former FBI Director James Comey in the midst of President Trump firing him in May 2017. Comey is a registered Republican and yet they have so much disdain for Trump that they’re willing to align themselves with anybody who shares that hatred.
It’s out of spite. And nobody is more spiteful than the Hollywood elites.
And now there is a James Comey miniseries biopic underway at CBS starring an A-list actor to prove it.
Get ready because there are about to be a slew of obnoxious anti-President Trump propaganda about to be unleashed on the American public in the foreseeable future because Hollywood is straight up obsessed with the storylines and monetary potential.
There have already been several so far. While the Academy Award nominated “Vice” was strictly a biopic about former Vice President Dick Cheney, part of the subtext was emphatically about the Trump administration.
Then you had “The Loudest Voice” which was a depiction of Fox President Roger Ailes throughout the years, and again, it was an indictment on the Trump administration as much as an attack of Fox’s practices as a news organization.
There have been comedies satirizing and everything in between but we’re still not three years into his administration before all this is finally seeing the light of day. Typically, movies or television shows take years to develop, produce, shoot and edit before they finally hit the air.
So if you do the math, we’ve got a long way to go before this Hollywood brigade is finish trying to make some sort of outrageous cultural point about the political climate.
But now CBS is producing a miniseries based on former FBI Director James Comey’s book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership.”
And they’re tapping actor Jeff Daniels – known for “Dumb and Dumber,” “Newsroom” and is just coming off his Tony Award winning play “To Kill a Mockingbird” on Broadway – to helm the part of James Comey.
Michael Kelly – known for “House of Cards” – will play the then-acting director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, while Jennifer Ehle (“Zero Dark Thirty”) will play Patrice Comey, James’ wife.
Who will play President Trump you might ask.
Well, that will be none other than British actor Brendan Gleeson – known for “In Bruges” and “Cold Mountain.”
“Captain Phillips” screenwriter Billy Ray adapted the book and will be directing. It will be executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Shane Salerno and Heather Kadin. The drama is slated to being next month with an airdate likely for late summer 2020. CBS Studios has yet to determine whether the series will air on Showtime, CBS Access or both.
Screenwriter Ray was stoked to have Daniels on board saying, “Jeff is so perfect for this part. Great actor, instant integrity, loads of warmth, intelligence, complexity and gravitas. We talked backstage after I saw him in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ on Broadway, and I knew I was looking at the only person who could play Jim Comey. Lucky for me, he said yes.”
But will this be a true-to-story real life depiction of the events?
We all know Hollywood takes extreme measures to fit their biased narrative of the Trump administration so far. They do it all the time.
