When you think of Robert De Niro; you might think of his iconic performances such as in “The Godfather Part II,” “Goodfellas” or “Taxi Driver.” When it comes to this caliber of an actor, you never really think of them as the perfect example of the roles they depict, but De Niro is probably the most accurate to date.
We know that now because of the voicemail he left for one of his assistants.
Robert De Niro’s leaked viral voicemails to former employee is unbelievable and downright vicious.
We’re really starting to see Robert De Niro’s true colors under President Trump’s administration. Even before Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States, De Niro was at the forefront of Hollywood celebrities who spread vitriol about him.
And that condemnation has continued ever since. At the 2018 annual Tony Awards De Niro proclaimed before the audience “F—k Trump,” which shocked even liberals who attended the ceremony.
Then there was what happened two Sundays ago when 76-year-old actor was a guest on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” with host Brian Stelter when the two-time Academy Award winner was asked about his Tony tirade, Stelter added “And when you say that, folks on Fox come after you.”
De Niro cut him off: “F—k’em, then reiterating again, “F—k’em.”
Finally, De Niro made the news again – not with “Joker” and the upcoming “The Irishman – over the controversy the “Goodfellas” actor is being sued by a former employee, Graham Chase Robinson, for gender discrimination.
The new lawsuit alleges De Niro subjected her to “vulgar, inappropriate, and gendered comments.” It also accuses the actor of overworking and underpaying her while she worked at his Canal Productions entertainment company.
De Niro categorically denied the accusations.
But new heinous threatening and abusive voicemails he left on Chase Robinson’s phone say otherwise.
One voicemail the spoiled actor left for Robinson:
“You f–king don’t answer my calls? How dare you. You’re about to be fired. You’re f–king history. Don’t be angry with me ’cause I’m pissed off ’cause I didn’t get a simple thing that I need right now here in California, where I’m here less than 24 hours, you gotta be f–king kidding me, you spoilt brat!”
In the new lawsuit, Robinson alleges De Niro repeatedly unloaded aggressive rants like the one above and also acted that way towards other female employees at Canal Productions.
The lawsuit reads, “Ms. Robinson’s position became increasingly intolerable, and over the years she announced her intent to resign multiple times. De Niro responded with both a carrot and a stick – he made promises to induce to her stay and threatened repercussions if she left.”
That sounds very Harvey Weinstein-esque, doesn’t it?
Clearly men in power have been getting away with this kind of abusive behavior for a long time in Hollywood and finally these accusations have surfaced since the Me Too Movement scandal.
And if you thought it was just cursing; guess again.
The lawsuit also claims, “De Niro also stood idly by while his friend slapped Ms. Robinson on her buttocks. He does not accept the idea that men should treat women as equals. He does not care that gender discrimination in the workplace violates the law. Ms. Robinson is a casualty of this attitude.”
It looks like De Niro’s comeuppance is finally upon us.
