The sports journalism field is largely filled with toxic liberalism and if any athlete doesn’t fall in line with their political views then you can bet they will attack them in a profile piece.
So if you’re a President Trump supporter then you will get slandered in the news.
And one USA Today columnist did just that when he attacked an NFL draftee for deleting his Pro-Trump tweets.
You may remember how the media came down on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady when they spotted a signature red “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker.
The Press and talking heads berated him and it instantly became a national “newsworthy” story.
Why?
It’s simply because one of the greatest athletes in any sport supporting a then-Republican candidate that nearly the entire journalism profession despises, would somehow be incredibly controversial.
It isn’t, but they thought that.
Brady played the entire situation coy.
He refused to confirm whether he was a supporter.
The only thing that he would confirm was that they have been friends for a long time.
The latest Master’s Champion Tiger Woods refused to criticize Trump’s presidency as well.
But then you have young future NFL players like Nick Bosa – who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 2nd overall pick – felt it was necessary to delete his pro-Trump tweets before he became a professional.
And a USA Today columnist named Nancy Armour ripped him apart for it.
Several weeks ago, Bosa was asked why he deleted his tweet and he said, “I had to. There is a chance I might end up in San Francisco.”
First of all, he wasn’t wrong, that’s exactly where he ended up and secondly, Bosa was fully aware of how liberal San Francisco is.
In the past, Bosa had posts criticizing the film Black Panther, supporting Tomi Lahren, calling Donald Trump the “GOAT,” and slamming Beyonce’s music.
Bosa also backed criticism of the NFL players who took a knee during the national anthem.
Bosa admitted that he didn’t want to cause any trouble in the locker room and promised he wouldn’t get political in his career.
But did he really have to?
Armour wrote, “Nick Bosa’s lack of conviction is far more bothersome than his political leanings. Bosa is unabashedly conservative in his views. He has praised President Donald Trump and retweeted posts celebrating the administration’s achievements. He has criticized Colin Kaepernick, calling him a ‘clown.’”
And what does that have to do with his playing abilities? Zero. Zilch. Nada.
Apparently, he’s not allowed to have a political opinion unless it’s directly opposed to anything remotely to do with Trump.
She continued, “if you support someone or something strongly enough to post about it on multiple occasions, then you’d better be ready to own it.”
Right, but it’s these kinds of hit pieces that explain exactly why he did it in the first place.
So is she a political or sports writer?
Clearly, she has an anti-Trump agenda that she can’t shake.
