Tiger Woods made headlines this week.
A journalist hounded the greatest golfer of all time about President Trump. He wanted a hot scoop for his readers and Woods refused to give it to him.
And while the liberal press criticized him, Jack Nicklaus stepped in and shut them all down with only a few words.
Tiger Woods is a top contender in golf right now.
Tiger Woods is a top contender
Everyone thought his career was done, but he stormed back into the mix. He just finished 2nd at the PGA Championship a few weeks ago. That was an impressive performance.
But after the US PGA Northern Trust tournament, one journalist harassed him about his relationship with President Trump. He wanted to know whether it was “personal or professional.”
Woods’ response was diplomatic. He was in no mood to discuss it but he did say “you have to respect the office.”
And that’s when Nicklaus stepped in and lent support to his fellow golfer when he agreed with Tiger that “you respect the office.”
In an interview with Fox and Friends, Nicklaus destroyed the debate with, “I thought Tiger handled it very well. No matter’s who’s president, whether it was Barack Obama or Donald Trump, I think you respect the office. I’m much in Tiger’s camp on that.”
Nicklaus destroyed the debate
It’s incredible that it had to get this far.
That journalist fished for a scoop and came up empty.
He asked him the question and when he didn’t get what he wanted, the journalist audaciously asked in a different way.
This reporter asked, “At times, especially 2018, I think a lot of people, especially colored immigrants are threatened by him and policy — what do you say to people who might find it interesting that you have a friendly relationship with him?”
How silly is that question? Clearly, this reporter has an anti-President Trump agenda. But he also hopes to accelerate his career in some way.
If Woods bites then it will make the front page the next day. And this guy’s name would be attached to it. It’s a win-win.
The shameful part is that Tiger Woods is back in top form and he’s forced to deal with this kind of nonsense.
Woods responded to this idiocy, “Well, he’s the President of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”
He handled the question really well.
That was the comment that Nicklaus referred to.
Even President Trump saw the interview and said, “The Fake News Media worked hard to get Tiger Woods to say something that he didn’t want to say. Tiger wouldn’t play the game – he is very smart. More importantly, he is playing great golf again!”
Trump probably rolled his eyes so hard when he saw that.
It literally had absolutely nothing to do with golf.
Funny enough, Jack Nicklaus is the only one that has more major wins than Woods with 18.
Jack Nicklaus is the only one that has more major wins than Woods with 18
Woods is a 14-time major winner.
In that respect, it’s a tad comical that Nicklaus defended Woods.
However, with the way Woods has played in the last several months, it’s only a matter of time before he gets to 15.
Will, he ever get to 19 and break Nicklaus’ all-time record?
