The liberal media pounces on athletes daring to express a view in opposition to their agenda.
Liberal sports writers ambushed this MLB All-star for his 5-year-old Instagram post.
But he refuses to kowtow to the liberal elites in the sports media.
And conservatives are applauding his resolve.
It all started when Red Sox slugger J.D. Martinez posted a picture of Adolf Hitler with this quote to his Instagram account:
“To conquer a Nation, First disarm it’s (sic) citizens.”
Just below that picture and quote, Martinez wrote,
“This is why I always stay strapped! #thetruth.”
Pro-Gun Slugger Defends Constitution Against Liberal Media
Liberal sports outlets attacked Martinez for his pro-gun statement. They demanded the Triple Crown front-runner apologize for his pro-Second Amendment stance at once.
Martinez stated he never “intended” to offend anyone. But what he said next really sent liberals into a frenzy.
According to Breitbart, Martinez defended his conservative stance on guns by saying,
“It was mostly just to state a point – a political point at the time that I believe in.”
“I stand by the Constitution and the Second Amendment. It’s something that I take pride in, and it’s something that I’ll back up,” Martinez added.
J.D. Martinez’s Past Formed His American Values
J.D. Martinez is a Cuban-American. His family escaped Cuba during Fidel Castro’s dictatorship. They came to this nation in pursuit of freedom.
Martinez said was he inspired to share the anti-gun control quote on Instagram because of his experience in Cuba during Castro’s dictatorship.
This led to a barrage of attacks from liberals on social media and in the press.
Martinez used the attention to remind his critics that:
“Everyone here has a right to their own political beliefs, and everybody has the right to stand by what they believe in.”
“That’s what makes us American. We’re all not going to agree on the same things, but that’s what makes this country so great,” Martinez added.
Martinez is Latest Red Sox Player Subjected to Scrutiny from Liberal Media
J.D. Martinez isn’t the first player in Red Sox history to stir up liberals for daring to be an outspoken conservative.
That title belongs to former World Series MVP and Red Sox starting pitcher Curt Schilling.
Schilling is known best for helping the Red Sox erase the ‘Curse of the Bambino’ while pitching in a bloody red sock.
Schilling played in six All-Star games, won three World Series (named series MVP in 2001), and finished runner-up for the Cy Young Award numerous times.
But that didn’t stop ESPN from firing Schilling as an analyst for posting a pro-conservative Facebook post.
In fact, the conservative baseball legend is thumbing his nose at Cooperstown.
If Schilling doesn’t get into the Hall of Fame, everybody will know why.
He’s an outspend conservative. But Schilling doesn’t care. He’s going to continue to speak his mind.
Both Martinez and Schilling are proving that conservative athletes are not afraid of the liberal media.
