Comedian Roseanne Barr spoke her mind this weekend and that was truly at the dismay of liberals everywhere who want to silence her.
The actress, writer and comedian didn’t want the network bosses to silence her in the wake of her new show on ABC but that’s what she claims they did in hindsight anyway.
And now Roseanne Barr claims that Hollywood destroyed her career because she was a President Trump supporter.
Roseanne Barr was on her way to being the highest paid actress/writer/executive producer on television but one bizarre tweet prevented that from ever happening.
Barr was fired by ABC when she sent a racist tweet about former aide to President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett,” in which the 66-year-old comedian called her a monkey.
The liberal Twitter mob got their pitchforks out and demonized the comic and ABC quickly condemned what she said as, “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
Barr claimed the entire experience of being removed from her creation as, “the worst, most horrible thing I’ve ever been through.”
However, she expected to be fired and the show moved on without her.
On Joe Rogan’s podcast Barr admitted, “That’s kind of what killed the comedy thing for me. I was told that me getting in trouble one more time, I wouldn’t have my reruns anymore. And I live on that [income], you know? I asked for it to be defined… They said, ‘You know what it means.’”
Of course they don’t really need a reason. In the state of California, where the show was shot, employers aren’t required to justify their decision if they decide to let you go.
But the network did say in a statement at the time, “While we believe viewers have always distinguished the personal behavior of the actress Roseanne Barr from the television character Roseanne Conner, we are disgusted by Barr’s comments this week. Therefore, we are removing the original ‘Roseanne’ series from the Laff schedule for the time being, effective immediately.”
That residual income is something Barr claims she lives on. And now that they’ve removed episodes from syndication, the well has officially run dry.
However, the entertainer explained that she believed her termination and the cancellation of “Roseanne” was also politically motivated. It’s all because I said that I like [Donald] Trump. A lot of cabals in Hollywood, that’s all they needed to hear: ‘She must be destroyed.’”
Disney CEO Bob Iger – the parent company for ABC – noted in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, “It took about five minutes to know what we had to do. It seemed completely insensitive, completely disrespectful. It was very clear. The decision, it was easy to make. What she had done was very, very clear. I didn’t believe any context could make this better or acceptable or could result in us forgiving her. So we did it. And you also know, in today’s world, if there’s a decision to be made by you, make it — because otherwise the world will make it for you, and that’s never good.”
All of this for a late night tweet?
Was it really necessary? Barr did apologize for her tweet saying, “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
But that wasn’t enough for ABC (Disney).
They made an example out of Barr and the subtle undertone is that Republicans are not welcome in Hollywood. It’s hard not to see it that way in the very least.
