Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back with more antics.
The Sussex Royals claim to want nothing to do with the family, but they refuse to make a clean break.
Now Harry and Meghan issued one shocking ultimatum to the Royal Family.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to have their cake and eat it, too.
The couple made a public break from the Royal Family, but continue to use the family’s stature for branding opportunities.
If Harry and Meghan are so fed up with the Royal Family, they should stop glomming onto it.
But then they wouldn’t have anything to market to Hollywood.
In addition to accusing the Royal Family of racism during a bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, Harry and Meghan also produced a Netflix documentary that levied scurrilous charges against the family.
Now Harry and Meghan shockingly want an apology from the Royal Family, but they are unlikely to get one.
FromThe Daily Mail:
“The Royal Family was reportedly ‘baffled’ by Harry and Meghan’s reported demands for an apology from Buckingham Palace in the wake of their controversial Netflix docu-series. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be holding out for the Palace to apologise before they consider attending King Charles’s coronation next year. But insiders have said the royals are bewildered that the couple want to meet to address their grievances, and are ‘refusing to respond’ until Harry and Meghan also admit they have made their own mistakes during the row. According to one Royal expert, there is zero chance the Royal family will make the first move in any efforts towards reconciliation.”
Considering Harry and Meghan’s repeated broadsides against the Royal Family, it seems absurd that they would even want to attend Charles’s coronation.
But they need the royal spotlight in order to remain relevant in Hollywood.
They do not have anything else to sell.
Markle was a middling television actor before marrying Harry, so she does not have a blockbuster film career to return to.
And Harry’s entire existence has been tethered to his family.
Vanity Fair Royal Editor Katie Nicholl explained, “What needs to happen is an admission that there have been faults on both sides and once there has been that admission, that may pave the way for a reconciliation…But Charles knows that a monarchy divided is not a monarchy the world wants to see. Harry knows full well William isn’t going to retaliate. I think the Palace’s stance of never complain, never explain in this instance is absolutely the right strategy because if they comment they will only fuel the narrative and allow the story more oxygen to run. I think by saying nothing it’s a dignified silence.”
Harry and Meghan drew criticism for attending Queen Elizabeth’s funeral and mugging for the cameras after publicly feuding with the Queen.
Attending Charles’s coronation would be quite telling given the harsh rebuke of the Royal Family.
Whether or not Harry and Meghan want to admit it, they need royal drama.
