Professional sports are chasing away fans because of politics.
Fans looking for escapism have been subjected to lectures from athletes and sports leagues.
But Major League Baseball’s disastrous political stunt was slammed by the last group it expected.
Joe Biden and the Democrats have been screeching about a new voting law in Georgia that strengthens election integrity by requiring ID and ballot verification.
Biden has lied repeatedly about the law and called it “Jim Crow on steroids.”
That prompted Democrats to encourage corporations to boycott the state.
Major League Baseball foolishly went along with the Democrats’ ploy, and moved the 2021 all-star game from Atlanta to Denver.
The move by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred cost local Georgia businesses over $100 million in lost revenue.
Ironically, the MLB moved the game from a city with a 51% black population to a city with a 9% black population.
Making matters worse for the MLB and the Democrats, a plurality of black voters were against the league’s move.
From Breitbart:
“A plurality of black voters, whom Democrats claim will be negatively impacted by Georgia’s election integrity measure, also believe the decision was ‘bad’ (45 percent), while 40 percent said it was good — a gap outside of the survey’s +/-3 percent margin of error.”
That same Rasmussen poll also showed that 57% of respondents, regardless of political affiliation, thought that it was “bad” for athletes and sports teams to get involved in politics.
Despite indisputable evidence that fans don’t want their sports entertainment suffused with politics, sports leagues continue to get “woke.”
The NFL has never fully recovered since former quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the anti-American anthem protests.
The league doubled down by embracing the radical Black Lives Matter movement, and performing the unofficial black national anthem prior to the season kickoff.
The NBA went even further “woke” and had players wear jerseys with progressive slogans on the back.
The courts were even plastered with “Black Lives Matter.”
As a result, the NBA saw its worst ratings ever recorded for the Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat.
Democrats continue to pander to black voters, but as the Rasmussen poll showed, it’s not working.
It’s nearly impossible to function in society without an ID.
Buying alcohol or cigarettes, getting a job, opening a bank account, going to the doctor, enrolling in school, and countless other activities require an ID.
But somehow people are supposed to believe that acquiring an ID to vote is a bridge too far.
It’s an absurd proposition.
Donald Trump’s straight talk and economic policies that helped the average American worker are why Trump did better with nonwhite voters than any Republican since 1960.
Major League Baseball and other organizations need to think long and hard about the slippery slope they’re navigating.
For example, the MLB was asked to answer on their deal with China despite the country’s extensive human rights abuses.
Politics need to stay out of sports.
