The NFL is under siege from leftists who hate this country.
The anti-American anthem protests have flared up ever since Colin Kaepernick first disrespected the flag in 2016.
Now one sports analyst is calling for a terrible retreat that would do damage to this nation.
Roy S. Johnson, director of the Alabama Media Group (a consortium of the top digital news content providers in the state), has called for the end of singing the National Anthem at sporting events.
Johnson rhetorically asked,
“Can’t we just watch the games, cheer for our teams and high-five folks next to us — even if we disagree on criminal justice reform, immigration, health care, voting rights, whatever?”
The answer is, of course, yes…unless you’re a leftist.
The left wants to politicize everything and destroy all American totems. Taking two minutes to show appreciation for the country shouldn’t be seen as divisive, or “too extra,” as Johnson also said.
Kaepernick’s form of hard-left demonstration is precisely the type of antics employed for decades by disciples of Saul Alinsky, the godfather of left-wing activism.
Alinsky believed it necessary to be as unruly and repugnant as possible to accomplish an objective.
If the NFL and other leagues caved to the hard left and banned the National Anthem, it would be more proof that anti-American disruption works.
America is unique because it was built on the ideal that everyone can be an American so long as they believe in certain core values that bind the country.
Americans have obviously made mistakes throughout history, and the country isn’t perfect, but America shouldn’t be judged against a fictitious Utopia. Man and country can only be just in their own time.
The American founding principles have created the most prosperous and tolerant society in human history, but the left is doing everything possible to destroy it.
First of all, the left believes in the Howard Zinn or Noam Chomsky view that America was never great, and continues to be the prime source for evil in the world.
If that sounds far-fetched, all one has to do is look at what members of the left actually say. For example, Kaepernick, the left’s new favorite crusader, said,
“Well, America has never been great for people of color and that’s something that needs to be addressed. Let’s make America great for the first time.”
That’s an asinine statement for a multi-millionaire black athlete to say. There isn’t a country on the planet where black people have it better than in America. Blacks in America would comprise the 18th wealthiest country in the world.
Again, America isn’t perfect, but Kaepernick and other leftists compare America to their egalitarian Utopia. Through that prism, no country has never been, nor will ever be, “great.”
Roy Johnson is wrong. The NFL should not cater to a strident activist minority. The majority of fans believe players should stand for the Anthem. Discarding a powerful American symbol would be a monstrous victory for the anti-American left.
People don’t have to agree on policy to enjoy a football game together. They don’t even have to enjoy the National Anthem together, though it would probably be a healthier country if they did.
The anthem shouldn’t be tossed aside because of a few disagreements.
Recently at a high school softball game in Fresno, California, it was announced that the National Anthem wouldn’t be performed, presumably because it had become “divisive.”
Fans in attendance rose in unison and sang the Star-Spangled Banner a cappella.
That’s America.
