Florida governor Ron DeSantis has clearly gotten under the skin of Democrats.
They cannot stand the fact that he’s been so effective in his role.
Now a leftist documentarian spun one fake narrative about DeSantis.
The Democrats are bringing out the big guns to take shots at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns appeared on CNN to give his wheezy commentary about how mean and terrible DeSantis is.
“All of these bills that DeSantis and others are doing limit our ability to understand who we are and they are not inclusive, they are exclusive. They are narrowing the focus of what is and isn’t American history. It’s terrifying. It feels like a Soviet system or the way the Nazis would build a Potemkin village,” Burns lamented.
This is ridiculous for multiple reasons – first, it was the left that was on board with the Soviets for decades.
Even today, there are still brain-dead communists that spout apologia for the Soviet Union.
It’s also odd for a historian to associate Potemkin villages with the Nazis instead of the Soviets.
New York Times reporter Walter Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize for writing glowingly about the Potemkin villages in the Soviet Union.
The Times still has not returned that Pulitzer.
Also, teaching children neo-Marxist claptrap like critical race theory is not teaching history; it’s pure indoctrination.
The Democrats have adopted the idea that if they are not allowed to teach their version of history, it’s tantamount to censorship and book-burning.
Left-wing critics were furious that DeSantis rejected an Advanced Placement African American Studies course by the College Board.
But they forget to mention that the course included radical concepts like prison abolition, reparations, and the black queer movement – which are wholly radical fringe ideas and hardly the bedrock of black history.
And black conservatives like Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, or Clarence Thomas were excluded from the course.
Burns went on to throw in a cheap shot at Tucker Carlson and said, “Tucker Carlson’s doing the same thing with the footage from 1/6. It’s just a kind of rewriting of history at the most dangerous level. It’s a huge threat to our Republic.”
It’s ironic for a documentary filmmaker to be aghast at a news organization releasing footage.
“There is no communication in this world except among equals, and the kind of hierarchies that a Tucker Carlson and a Ron DeSantis are trying to superimpose over us are extraordinarily dangerous to this experiment,” Burns added.
Burns is definitely showing his hard-left bias by complaining about hierarchies, which does not even make sense within the context of the discussion.
The left is out of ideas.
All they can do is hurl generic smears at their political opponents.
Despite the endless attacks, DeSantis remains wildly popular in the state of Florida.
