The dust from the 2018 midterms is settling.
Democrats flipped the House, and Republicans picked up seats in the Senate.
But Hollywood is already pushing one candidate for the 2020 presidential race.
The Aftermath
Democrats were expecting a blue wave.
They assumed a repudiation of Donald Trump.
They thought the voters would reject him and his policies.
But they were wrong.
Democrats only did slightly better than historical averages in the House.
And they lost ground in the Senate.
That means Trump can still appoint judges and deregulate.
If the Democrats intend to launch endless investigations, the American people will grow sick of it.
It wouldn’t be the first time the left’s tactics backfired.
Their despicable treatment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh energized the Republican Party.
Another outcome from the midterms is the performance of Democratic “stars.”
They built up Andrew Gillum for Florida governor.
Barack Obama even campaigned for him.
He lost.
Democrats pumped up Stacey Abrams for Georgia governor.
Oprah Winfrey even stumped for her.
She lost.
In Texas, Democrats hoped to flip Ted Cruz’s seat.
Hollywood threw everything they had into the Senate race to prop up Beto O’Rourke.
He lost.
But Democrats aren’t done with Beto yet.
The Contender
Despite his loss, the left is animated by Beto O’Rourke.
Hollywood threw tons of cash into his campaign.
Some even complained that he should’ve spread around the wealth to other candidates.
Instantly after his defeat to Cruz, Democrats had their sights on the 2020 campaign.
The media had already lined up O’Rourke as a potential 2020 candidate.
Hollywood celebrities quickly got in line.
Actress Alyssa Milano and many others already tapped O’Rourke to challenge Trump.
Beto lost? That’s ok. Now he can run for President.

Beto/Gillum 2020.

It’s no surprise Democrats are so excited about Beto.
This is what leftists do.
They worship politicians.
They try to turn them into rock stars.
The left promotes them on various TV shows.
They sing songs about them.
This is the exact same treatment Barack Obama received during his run.
Similarly, Beto O’Rourke came out of nowhere.
Looking Ahead
Despite O’Rourke’s loss, Democrats are convinced they have their man.
Expect more puff pieces and celebration of O’Rourke.
But his candidacy might not be smooth sailing.
He has a past that hasn’t yet been under national scrutiny.
While driving drunk, he fled the scene of an accident, then lied about it.
He was also involved in a potential eminent domain real estate scam involving his uber-wealthy father-in-law.
Another problem Beto has is the 2020 primary.
It’s going to be a bloody battle.
It could be even crazier than the 2016 GOP primary.
The Democrats are now the party of identity politics.
A straight white male like Beto will face a field with more “intersectional privilege.”
Whoever emerges from that primary might be too damaged to defeat Trump.
That’s what happened to Hillary Clinton in 2016.
She had to steal the primary from Bernie Sanders.
At that point, she alienated too many Democrats.
It wouldn’t come as a surprise Beto O’Rourke needed a scorched-earth strategy to get the nomination.
And that might be a good thing…for Trump.
