Hollywood has become a cesspool of very wealthy, privileged liberals who spend their time lecturing the rest of America.
And their hatred of the president has become a rallying cry, and a way for former stars to find some relevancy again.
That’s why this washed up Batman actor is calling for Donald Trump to resign.
Former Hollywood star Michael Keaton, who is best known for playing Batman on the big screen, is turning up his anti-Trump vitriol and in the running to get the lead role in the parade of former Hollywood stars opposing President Donald Trump this year.
Keaton got his start in the early 1980s starring in a series of quirky and fun comedies and had his “bust out” performance in the classic comedy “Night Shift” starring with Henry “The Fonz” Winkler in 1982.
He also starred in a long list of particularly good 1980s comedies like “Mr. Mom” (1983), “Johnny Dangerously” (1984), and of course “Beetlejuice” in 1988.
But, it was his lead role in Tim Burton‘s 1989 “Batman” and the sequel “Batman Returns” (1992) that saw his star really rise.
And it saw Keaton’s attempt to leave comedies and become a dramatic actor instead.
He turned out a series of dramatic films but could never quite shake off that comedic flare that had made him a star. Moviegoers found it hard to take him seriously as a mass murderer or police detective without thinking of his earlier roles.
So other than a brief return in his Oscar nominated performance in “Birdman,” the actor faded from the spotlight after a long series of flops and B movies where he seemed to struggle deciding if he was a serious actor or a funny man.
Based on his recent comments about President Trump, it appears he is trying at a come back as a comedian. But he appears to have lost his touch.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Mr. Mom opined that President Donald Trump should resign from office.
In his very long, somewhat offensive post, Keaton argued that President Trump should resign because, well, according to the actor, Trump was never fit for office in the first place.
“Look, I’ve said this before. I’ll say it calmly again. I am(and I feel we all should be) over the screaming, ranting etc over trump who is what many call the president. It’s crystal clear it was a fluke and unfortunately a terrible mistake. There are moments when I honestly feel sorry for him. OK, maybe not MOMENTS but seconds. It’s reached the point where it just pathetic.”
But Keaton wasn’t done with his diatribe. And in his clear desire to become relevant again decided to get even more nasty and personal in his baseless attacks.
“As I’ve said before-pick the phrase ‘over his head’ ‘lost’ ‘incapable.’ “Doesn’t matter. He just can’t do it. He is so obviously unfit. He truly blew a chance. HE DOESN’T HAVE THE STUFF. The job is a tough one and he honestly thinks he can fake his way through it.”
Not stopping there, Keaton then said that Trump should simply resign, arguing that doing so would be “very patriotic.”
Keaton went on saying, “Resign. No harm. No foul. Walk away. Would be very patriotic and I would personally write a note thanking him. I swear I’m not being condescending. It’s just the truth. It’s now or never folks. Democracy is honestly and literally in question. That’s not being dramatic. Just a fact.”
It seems the actor has forgotten what being dramatic is. Maybe that’s why he can’t get any work these days.
Hollywood truly is the land of make believe, and Michael Keaton is trying his best to make believe anyone cares what he says.
