Hollywood celebrities have become the pawns of Democrat politicians.
They push policy through their public platforms and their projects.
And one Disney star made a shocking anti-American statement.
The Left has the habit of making everything seem catastrophic.
Liberal intellectual Steven Pinker called it progressophobia, i.e. the inability to acknowledge and celebrate progress in the country.
In the eyes of the Left, everything must be as bad as ever in order to justify unrelenting propaganda and political action.
And Anthony Mackie, star of Disney’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier, played precisely into that narrative.
In an interview with Variety, Mackie—who is black—told the interviewer, “The fear of representing a country who doesn’t represent you, you know, was something that’s not only unfathomable but hard to overcome.”
That’s an unbelievable statement considering Mackie has consistently worked in an incredibly competitive American industry for nearly 20 years.
America is truly a melting pot where anyone can succeed when given the opportunity.
Ironically, Mackie’s father had that message for him.
“My dad always used to say greatness is as far as you can see it…There are limitations that we place on ourselves because of our surroundings. And, you know, I did that to myself, and that’s definitely what Sam Wilson goes through.”
Mackie’s father gave him sage advice.
As Mackie noted, the lead character of Sam Wilson delivered a cringeworthy speech about America at the end of the show.
“I’m a black man carrying the stars and stripes. What don’t I understand? Every time I pick this [shield] up, I know there are millions of people out there that are gonna hate me for it.”
Both Mackie and his Sam Wilson character seem to be suffering from progressophobia.
Even though America is as tolerant as its ever been, radical leftists are marching in the streets for blood.
In another twist of irony, left-wing critics took umbrage at Falcon and the Winter Soldier for not being “woke” enough.
“Yet another example of the MCU’s antagonists who would be heroes if not for their bloodlust, the Flag-Smashers also carried with them the aesthetics and evocation of antifa. Never mind that antifa and the Flag-Smashers have little in common outside a preference for black clothing, in Falcon and the Winter Soldier they looked and behaved exactly like the kind of imaginary anarchists Fox News uses to scare racist geriatrics.”
A public relations professional recently admitted that Disney stars are working hard to appease the woke overlords at the Mouse House.
While stars are working to avoid getting canceled, their rhetoric is only working to divide the country.
By most standards Mackie has lived a privileged life.
He attended the prestigious Juilliard School for acting, and has steadily worked in Hollywood for nearly two decades.
That is the epitome of the American dream.
A little gratitude for that reality would go a long way in keeping the country together.
