The entertainment industry lost its collective mind during Donald Trump’s presidency.
But the far-left politics of Hollywood preceded Trump, and they continue today.
Now one insider made a shocking confession about the political culture within Hollywood.
Hollywood has leaned left for decades, but it’s only gotten worse in recent years.
The McCarthyism of the 1950s aimed at communists is now being used to cudgel Republicans, conservatives, or anyone who doesn’t toe the progressive line.
Disney recently fired actress Gina Carano from the popular series “The Mandalorian” after refusing to bend the knee to the cultural left.
Other personalities in the industry have suffered similar fates, perhaps most notably Roseanne Barr.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, publicists have urged their clients to “steer clear of politics, especially anything leaning right.”
The “cancelation” of Carano was one of the most chilling escalations in the culture war between the radical left and everyone else.
And public relations representative Juda Engelmeyer let the cat out of the bag of how frightened people within the industry are of the cancel mob.
Engelmeyer said:
“I don’t know what people at Disney personally believe or don’t believe with regard to politics, but as a corporate entity, they want to stay as trouble-free as possible. And anything that’s going to offend the left is a problem…I have clients who are making an extraordinary effort to post what the social left wants to see.”
The Carano episode exposes exactly why.
People who defy the mob could soon find themselves out of a job.
The Hollywood Reporter also stated Disney had plans for Carano to star in a spinoff series, but those plans were scrapped after her first dust-up with the maniacal left.
Carano was harried by transgender activists to put her preferred pronouns in her Twitter bio, and she snarkily responded, “Beep/bop/boop.”
Carano also questioned the integrity of the 2020 election.
From that point on, higher-ups at Disney were looking for any reason to fire her.
The pronoun “controversy” shows that it’s not enough to be silent and keep your head down; “silence is violence” according to the woke mob.
Leftists have rapidly moved toward compelled speech.
They demand that people shut up when they want, and parrot the party line when they want.
Unfortunately, the radical left is gaining legitimacy in mainstream circles, and sane individuals are suffering the consequences.
Carano was able to land on her feet by agreeing to a movie deal with the conservative outlet The Daily Wire, but more people need to speak up so simply voicing tepid right-of-center views isn’t considered verboten.
Conservatives and Republicans have neglected culture for too long.
Movies, television shows, music, and other media have shaped the way Americans think about politics in profound ways.
If the right doesn’t want radical leftism to become the norm, more people have to stand up to the mob and fight back in the culture war.
