LeBron James has proven to be the biggest hypocritical athlete in America recently when he denounced Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey’s tweet defending pro-Democracy protesters in Hong Kong.
Following his comments where he said Morey was “misinformed,” James became public enemy number one in Hong Kong where protesters burned his jerseys in the streets.
And President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., just slaughtered LeBron James over his comments regarding the People’s Republic of China.
President Donald Trump has taken a hard-lined stance on China. Entering office, he deemed China as currency manipulators and that was magnified by former President Obama’s horrific trade deals across the world.
But everything bubbled to the surface magnifying the tense relationship between China and the United States recently due to the censorship stronghold the People’s Republic of China’s has on our country.
It all began when Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted support for pro-Democracy protestors in Hong Kong and the Chinese government quickly condemned him
Then everyone started noticing how not only the NBA handled the controversial issue, but how Hollywood – particularly the Walt Disney Company (Pixar and Marvel) – along with the video game industry, completely bowed to China. They all knew how much it would hurt their bottom line if they spoke out against the communist regime’s censorship policies.
Superstar NBA forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James, added fuel to the fire when he condemned Morey’s tweet because not only does he have a huge stake in Nike Inc. but also because he has Warner Bros. Space Jam 2 coming out next summer.
On the issue, James said, “Yes, we do have freedom of speech. But at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others, when you only think about yourself.”
Everyone was livid with this response including some in Trump’s administration like Vice President Mike Pence who said the NBA was acting like a “wholly-owned subsidiary of China.”
And Donald Trump Jr. recently appeared on “The Jeff Poor Show” on Friday where he criticized James.
He said, “[A]s you saw it last week with LeBron James and the NBA. You know, he can talk smack about America for five years, four years, whatever — since my father got in the race he has been talking how horrible America is while he is making $100 million a year. But then you ask him about the atrocities in China — ‘Oh, I’m not educated enough to talk about that.’ Oh, really? Really? You’re not? This isn’t quantum physics, LeBron. It’s pretty simple.”
He’s right. Everybody knows James is only trying to protect his money. It’s really that simple. It’s hard not to note the hypocrisy that he has no problem speaking his mind about anything that doesn’t affect his bottom line.
Trump Jr. added, “The atrocities of the Chinese regime is pretty well documented, both by Republicans and Democrats. It’s pretty bipartisan on that one. To cower away from that — it’s all nonsense. I’d actually respect him a lot more if he said, ‘I’m just doing it for the money. They pay me a lot. I’m just not going to opine.’ OK, I can respect that. But to pretend all of a sudden, they can talk about politics and how terrible it is here, but they won’t touch that one because they’re not educated enough, give me a break.”
That’s also true. If James were to come out and say “Sorry Hong Kong protesters. We would love to support you because it aligns with our American ideals and we think what the People’s Republic of China is doing to you is wrong, but we also love our money,” then it would be at least truthful.
Liberals need to stop falling for this virtue signaling from spoiled elitist athletes like LeBron James from high up on their pedestal.
