Everyone knows about ESPN’s liberal bias.
The worldwide leader in sports is often unapologetic about their leftist views, which has caused them to lose viewers and subscribers.
But now – not surprisingly – there could be a new worldwide leader in sports sooner than you might think.
Fox Sports 1, or “FS1”, is on the rise and gaining quickly on ESPN.
ESPN is only about 3 million subscribers ahead of FS1 right now and could be dethroned completely in the coming months.
Which will obviously force “the worldwide wide leader in sports” to lose their coveted self-aggrandizing catch phrase.
Remember the days when ESPN would just report on sports?
Remember when Stuart Scott and Chris Berman would make up sounds and words during highlights to flavor up something already spectacular?
Those were the days.
Now, it’s “Will the Golden State Warriors show up to the White House if invited and should they go?”
At some point, they not only began to politicize sports, but they now demonize anything anti-Obama because the network praises the former president vehemently all the time.
These are the types of things that their conservative subscribers grew tired of and led to their departure.
But it’s inevitable now that FS1 dethrones ESPN.
Breitbart reports:
“For the first time in a few months, Sports TV Ratings has released coverage estimates for the major sports networks.
However, given what the release shows, ESPN may want Sports TV Ratings to go back to not releasing coverage estimates.
According to the release, not only is ESPN losing subscribers, rival network Fox Sports 1 has significantly increased its coverage.
Since March, ESPN has lost 220,000 subscribers, while FS1 has gained 262,000 subscribers.
ESPN still has an overall subscriber lead 87,217,000 to 84,421,000, over FS1.
Though, with a 30-year head start, it should come as no surprise that ESPN has more overall coverage.
Not only do the numbers provide good news for FS1, but FS2 has also gained 2,006,000 subscribers since March.
Over that same time period, ESPN2 has lost 261,000 subscribers.
All of this strongly suggesting that FS1, the network which began with the goal of destroying ESPN’s cable sports watching monopoly, has some good momentum. “
At this rate, FS1 will dethrone ESPN in about 12 months, which will force them to let go of more of their overpaid employees.
Or maybe they’ll wise up and start firing the analysts who are actually perpetuating the network’s liberal bias.
Or maybe they won’t.
