Hollywood celebrities hate Donald Trump.
The only thing more annoying than their non-stop hatred of Trump is their need to remind everyone just how much they hate him.
Entertainment industry celebrities gathered at one awards show to rejoice in their hatred of Trump, but it backfired in a major way.
Preaching to the Choir
Awards shows used to be about celebrating the victors and the entertainment industry. They were self-serving, but at least in acceptable doses.
But in the 1970s, the awards shows became political. At the 1973 Academy Awards, Marlon Brando declined his Oscar for “The Godfather” and sent Native American activist Sacheen Littlefeather in his place to lecture the audience.
In 1978, Vanessa Redgrave received jeers when she referred to “Zionist thugs” in her speech.
However, Hollywood has drifted further and further left, and now embraces full-scale activist speeches and political messaging.
The MTV VMA’s Sinks to Irrelevency
One of the most nauseating awards show moments occurred at the Grammys when Oprah Winfrey lectured America about moral depravity in her industry. Even worse, Winfrey was close friends with Harvey Weinstein, the face of Hollywood sexual misconduct.
The 2018 Tonys were another low point when Robert De Niro stupidly shouted, “F*** Trump,” not even bothering to form a coherent thought.
Sadly, the awards shows might’ve sunken to new depths at the recent MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The show was lackluster, and half-hearted; there was no host, and almost none of the biggest names in music today were present.
In keeping with the lukewarm show, the anti-Trump commentary was equally embarrassing.
Comedian Kevin Hart, who received criticism for not bashing Trump in his standup act, gave into the mob and delivered some corny social justice warrior jokes.
Hart said:
“You never know what’s going to happen at the VMAs. Bad language, people run to the bathroom and send out crazy tweets…It’s basically like a typical day at the White House. In your face, Trump! Suck it!”
If that wasn’t cringeworthy enough, Hart also chimed in on the NFL anti-American anthem protests:
“We are live coast-to-coast, people. I’m looking at this like it’s game day. But do not worry. For this game, you’re allowed to kneel. You can do whatever the hell you want. There’s no old white man who can stop you.”
And if that wasn’t cringeworthy enough, a rapper named Logic performed a “woke” song while wearing a t-shirt that said “F*** The Wall” as he invited immigrant children onto the stage.
All of the anti-Trump bluster resulted in terrible viewership. The VMAs reached new lows in ratings, dropping 15 percent overall and 21 percent in the 18-49 demographic.
Democrats’ Desperate Measures
Recently, MTV put on its Movie Awards show. Surprisingly, the show featured virtually zero political messaging, and it pulled in its highest ratings in years.
The most memorable speech at the Movie Awards belonged to actor Chris Pratt, who talked about openly and proudly about his Christianity. He received a chorus of cheers.
Apparently MTV couldn’t handle that so the network went super progressive for the VMAs.
Leftists feel their stranglehold on the culture loosening ever so slightly, so they’ve responded with censorship on social media, and renewed dedication to propaganda at the awards shows.
MTV even launched a voter registration drive for the show. They didn’t explicitly tell people who to vote for, but their message was loud and clear.
