Colin Kaepernick will just not accept that he is a less than mediocre quarterback.
Although he did take the 49ers to the Super Bowl over five seasons ago, his production fell off a cliff and that’s why he’s jobless.
But now Kaepernick is ramping up his collusion lawsuit with an insane threat against President Trump.
Kaepernick hasn’t played a down of football in nearly two years.
True, he was the one who started the anthem-kneeling garbage, but many NFL players followed suit and also kneeled, yet they are still in the NFL.
So what exactly does that say about Kaepernick?
Nevertheless, Kaepernick filed a collusion grievance and his lawyers are in the deposition process right now.
And in a strange twist, Kaepernick’s team of lawyers team are now attempting to argue that both Trump and Pence tried to influence team owners for the purpose of keeping Kaepernick from being signed.
Yahoo! Sports’ Charles Robinson reports that Kaepernick’s head lawyer, Mark Geragos,
“is expected to seek federal subpoenas in the coming weeks to compel testimony from [President Donald] Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other officials familiar with the president’s agenda on protesting NFL players.”
Geragos explained on the Straight Aim with Amy Dash podcast,
“They were clearly colluding because they were intimidated by the president. The only reason — and the owners will admit this — that they haven’t signed him is because of Trump, and they’ve colluded because of Trump.”
According to a Wall Street Journal report, they claim that Trump told Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, “Tell everybody, you can’t win this one. This one lifts me.”
And you might remember that Pence walked out of an Indianapolis Colts game when players began kneeling during the anthem.
But are these actions and comments somehow collusion against Kaepernick? That seems flimsy at best.
The NFL proved to be in dire-straights last season with record low ratings, stadium attendance, and loss in advertisers because of the anthem protests.
Which is why the NFL finally implemented the rule that players will be subject to fines for kneeling during anthem next season, or they have the option to stay in the locker room during the anthem.
But Geragos maintains that under 18 U.S. Code 227, they can subpoena both Trump and Pence.
Geragos said,
“There’s a specific code section that says if you — for a political, partisan reason — take an action to affect somebody’s employment in the private sector that that is, not only a criminal offense, but actionable, as well.
“Under the plain language of the statute, clearly, both Trump and [Mike] Pence have violated it. Not only are they covered persons under the statute, but there is irrefutable evidence — that I won’t quote right this second — but there’s irrefutable evidence that it was done for partisan, political purposes. ‘Fire that son of a bitch’ was at a campaign rally.”
But where’s the proof of interference to justify a subpoena for Trump and Pence?
Neither Trump’s comment nor Pence’s walkout have anything to do with Kaepernick.
