It’s quite obvious that President Trump will bend over backwards for his friends.
For instance, anytime superstar rapper Kanye West and his “Keeping up with the Kardashians” wife Kim Kardashian, have reached out to Trump on numerous occasions for favors, like recently when they asked to help save their friend A$AP Rocky from a Swedish prison. He did; now he’s out.
And rapper A$AP Rocky issued a heartfelt gracious thank you but somehow didn’t mention Trump even though he was instrumental in his release.
You probably never heard the name A$AP Rocky before a few weeks ago. There are so many skilled rappers out there that it’s hard to keep up with all of them. How many times have you seen a rapper’s name in the news and thought “who?” You’re not alone.
If you’re not familiar with what happened in the A$AP Rocky case then you could probably understand why Kanye West asked President Trump for help – knowing he would likely be sympathetic to the situation.
A$AP Rocky and his friends were stalked in Sweden. Several people kept following them around and A$AP Rocky asked them to stop. When a brawl broke out on the streets of Stockholm Sweden, you could hear the rapper saying they didn’t want any part of it.
There is partial video of the situation.
And Sweden has a weird bail system. They technically do have bail but it hasn’t been granted in 10 years.
Trump had been off-and-on the phone with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and initially expressed that A$AP Rocky would not receive special treatment two weeks ago, then suddenly, in a weird twist of fate, was released until a verdict comes down on his case. He spent 33 days behind bars.
The rapper came home to celebrate with Kanye West.
Upon touching down in the U.S. he wrote in an Instagram post, “THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART TO ALL OF MY FANS, FRIENDS AND ANYONE ACROSS THE GLOBE WHO SUPPORTED ME DURING THESE LAST FEW WEEKS I CANT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW GRATEFUL I AM FOR ALL OF YOU THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DIFFICULT AND HUMBLING EXPERIENCE I WANT TO THANK THE COURT FOR ALLOWING ME BLADI AND THOTO TO RETURN TO OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF THE LOVE AND SUPPORT.”
But he didn’t thank President Trump at all?
It’s likely the Swedish Prime Minister and the courts allowed the “Praise the Lord” rapper to travel back to the United States because they didn’t want the added attention.
Why wouldn’t he at least thank Trump for his efforts too?
Sen. Kamala Harris said at a recent NAACP convention that the only reason Trump tried to help was because he was “playing politics,” alluding to the idea that it was for optics purposes and he was pandering to African Americans.
A moderator asked Harris “As president, how would you handle the A$AP Rocky case in Sweden? How will you use your power to make sure misuse of power doesn’t happen in cases like this, and that this case would stay in the State Department and not go to the White House?”
She responded, “There’s no question that this White House is, has been playing politics with his role of leadership, and it has to end.”
The moderator followed up that response with, “So you’re saying this is another piece on the rap sheet of Donald Trump, this misuse of power in the ASAP Rocky case?”
Harris said, “Yes.”
Trump just can’t win. Also, A$AP Rocky should be eternally grateful to Trump and be on his best side because if the Swedish courts convict him then Trump could very well pull rank and deny extradition. A$AP Rocky has already indicated he would never go back to Sweden again.
