Leftists are all too quick to tear down the United States.
Some athletes have even been rewarded for doing it.
But one anti-American Olympic protest just hilariously backfired.
Colin Kaepernick’s anti-American anthem protest has spread like a virus throughout the sports world.
He made kneeling during “The Star-Spangled Banner” customary; it became a symbol of the Left’s hatred for America.
Even Olympic athletes—who are supposed to represent the country—are getting in on the act.
Hammer throw competitor Gwendolyn Berry made waves by refusing to respect the flag while standing on the podium after finishing third in Olympic trials.
Berry will represent the U.S. in the Olympics, but she refused to do it on the podium.
Berry turned away from the flag and put a towel over her head.
But a photo on Berry’s website from 2016 proves that Berry could be attempting to cash in on the Left’s anti-American grift.

In addition to proudly displaying the flag, Berry’s website said the following:
“With countless hours of training and determination, Berry will surely succeed at her dream of representing her country at the Summer 2016 Olympics.”
That’s a far cry from Berry’s over-the-top hatred of America.
Coincidentally, August 2016 is when Kaepernick began his anti-American protest.
Since then, he’s been showered with praise from the left-wing press while cutting lucrative deals with Nike, Disney, Netflix, Penguin Random House, and EA Sports.
Berry explained her protest by saying:
“I feel like it was a setup, and they did it on purpose…I was pissed, to be honest…It was real disrespectful…I didn’t really want to be up there. Like I said, it was a setup. I was hot.”
The anthem was set to play at 5:20 p.m., so there was no absurd “setup.”
And playing the national anthem doesn’t make an Olympic competitor a victim.
“It was funny because they said they were going to play (the anthem) before we actually walked out, and then it just so happened that they played it when we were out there…So, you know, it’s okay. I really don’t want to talk about the anthem because that’s not important. The anthem don’t speak for me. It never has.”
If the anthem “never has” spoken for Berry, it’s peculiar that she appeared to be patriotic on her website.
Either Berry was lying then, or she’s lying now.
Regardless of the answer, America needs better representatives than those would balk at respecting the flag and the anthem.
