The left can’t stop talking about Donald Trump.
Democrats need to keep their Orange Man Bad narrative going with the media business hurting.
And liberal comic Jon Stewart floated an unhinged Trump conspiracy theory.
Jon Stewart’s Apple show The Problem with Jon Stewart has been a ratings failure, so much so that he joked about the show being canceled.
The former host of The Daily Show has not been able to cultivate an audience at his new home, but he continues to plug away with the same old shtick.
And Stewart has jumped on the Orange Man Bad train.
He recently had a discussion with Democrat author Anne Applebaum.
During the talk, Stewart said that Trump attempted a military coup.
Stewart said, “It’s incredible to me, though, the amount of—and I think the January 6th commission, for ultimately whatever accountability will be brought to bear in it—the most interesting thing to me is the amount of conversation, the amount of the administration that it takes to undermine a healthy democracy. The lawyers that have to come in and check things over. You know, absent a military coup, which they were also I think laying the groundwork for, it’s amazing to me how many fucking meetings, you know, ah, autocrats need to take over.”

Leftists have been using this nonsensical, overwrought language for years.
The idea that Trump was planning, or could even executive, a military coup is preposterous.
When the Department of Justice cleared out Lafayette Square in light of mass rioting and St. John’s Episcopal Church being burned, several generals signed a letter condemning Trump.
Far-left radicals rioted to the point where the Secret Service forced Trump into the bunker, but the true danger was Trump’s DOJ clearing out a park for a press conference after a church burning.
Also, military officials under Trump bragged about lying to him regarding troop deployments so he would not bring soldiers home from Syria.
The idea that Trump had the military under his thumb is absurd.
Besides, if Trump or any president attempted to pull off a banana republic-style coup, it would take a full seizure of the military, the courts, and the media.
Applebaum offered zero pushback and said, “You need a lot of meetings, you need a lot of smoke-filled rooms, you need a lot of dinners. You need a lot of conversations around kitchen tables. No, no, there’s a planning and thinking about how you undermine the institutions, figuring out which ones are weak.”
That’s ironic considering the left has hollowed out so many institutions and put ideologues in positions of power.
Over fifty senior intelligence agency officials signed onto a letter swearing that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation when it clearly was not.
And Joe Biden has weaponized the Department of Justice in disturbing ways.
He sicced the FBI on school board meetings to surveil parents who protested lockdowns and “woke” curricula.
Attorney General Merrick Garland authorized an unprecedented raid on Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago.
If Stewart is looking for Executive Branch abuses of power, he can find them.
