The entertainment industry is completely under the thumb of the left.
Even liberals outside the industry exert enormous pressure on Hollywood.
And activists are furious at one film for a reason that will leave you speechless.
Left-wing advocacy groups commonly bully Hollywood studios, production companies, and guilds to do their “woke” bidding.
The problem really accelerated with the election of Donald Trump.
For example, gay activist groups like GLAAD will urge studios to include LGBT representation on screen as well as behind the camera.
And on-screen representation must be in a positive light, otherwise activists flip out.
For example, leftist activists attacked Netflix for including the “LGBT” label on the serial killer series Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story until the streamer removed it.
Now Planned Parenthood is furious at the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde that puts the barbaric practice of abortion in its proper light.
The film includes a forced abortion that traumatizes Monroe.
Caren Spruch, Planned Parenthood national director of arts and entertainment engagement (yes, the organization has its own PR wing), wrote in a statement, “As film and TV shapes many people’s understanding of sexual and reproductive health, it’s critical these depictions accurately portray women’s real decisions and experiences…While abortion is safe, essential health care, anti-abortion zealots have long contributed to abortion stigma by using medically inaccurate descriptions of fetuses and pregnancy…Andrew Dominik’s new film, ‘Blonde,’ bolsters their message with a CGI-talking fetus, depicted to look like a fully formed baby.”
Planned Parenthood is furious that the film reminds people that a fetus is actually a baby.
The left’s entire abortion argument hinges on the dehumanization of the baby in the womb.
“Planned Parenthood respects artistic license and freedom…However, false images only serve to reinforce misinformation and perpetuate stigma around sexual and reproductive health care. Every pregnancy outcome — especially abortion — should be portrayed sensitively, authentically and accurately in the media.”
If any conservative-leaning group petitioned Hollywood to alter its message on issues from abortion to gun control, that group would not get any fair hearing.
The left simply expects Hollywood to do its bidding.
Thus far, New Zealand-born Blonde director Andrew Dominik has not backed down from backlash.
Dominik said, “I think the movie is pretty nuanced actually, and I think it’s very complex, but that doesn’t fit — people are obviously concerned with losses of freedoms, obviously they are…But, I mean, no one would have given a sh*t about that if I’d made the movie in 2008, and probably no one’s going to care about it in four years time. And the movie won’t have changed. It’s just what sort of going on.”
In light of the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in the Dobbs case, Democrats are on high alert regarding abortion.
They want all of their propaganda arms in lockstep.
Dominik continued, “They’ve got a certain agenda where they feel like the freedoms of women are being compromised, and they look at ‘Blonde’ and they see a demon, but it’s not really about that…I think it’s very difficult for people to step outside of the stories they carry inside themselves and see things of their own volition.”
While Dominik remains resolute, Netflix, the company that produced the film, could waver at any moment.
Netflix censored Andrew Schulz’s comedy special because it included jokes that were perceived as too pro-life.
