Seattle Seahawks’ Defensive End Michael Bennett is one of the most prominent anti-American protesters.
He can be seen sitting on the bench during the National Anthem each week.
Now Bennett did something that showed just how fraudulent the anthem protests are.
Bennett chose to stand for the anthem during Veterans’ Day weekend. Bennett and other protesters claim that sitting or kneeling for the anthem isn’t a sign of disrespect to the military.
If that’s the case, then Bennett would feel no need to stand on this particular weekend.
From Breitbart:
In simpler, less insane times, a story about a football player standing for the national anthem would never have to be written. Yet, we clearly no longer live in such simple times.
Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett has sat during the national anthem at every single game this season, with the exception of two games: the game after the Las Vegas massacre, and Thursday night against the Cardinals. Bennett, whose father served in the Navy, stood during the playing of the anthem on Salute to Service night.
According to Pro Football Talk, “NBC’s Mike Tirico reported that with Veterans Day on Sunday, and the NFL honoring veterans during this week’s games, Bennett wanted to make it clear he supports the military.”
In fact, every member of the Seahawks stood for the anthem on Thursday night.
While Bennett still has a lot of explaining to do when it comes to why he lied about being racially profiled by the Las Vegas Police Department, standing for the anthem on Thursday night was a nice start.
The protesters are playing a double game. They claim they aren’t disrespecting the flag, the country, or the military, but deep down they realize kneeling for the anthem is a clear sign of denigration.
This is a gambit the anti-military left has done for decades; they pay lip service to American soldiers, but condescend to them and mock what they stand for.
Only the most radical members of the left realize it’s unpalatable to publicly disrespect the military, which is why Bennett felt the good sense to stand. Even he understood kneeling on Veterans’ Day would be a disgrace.
This simply exposes the disingenuousness of the protests started by Colin Kaepernick.
Kaepernick was very clear that his protest was anti-American:
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
He couldn’t have been more explicit that his protest was against America. He chose to disrespect the flag in a public way because he knew it would get attention.
The most ironic thing about Kaepernick’s protest is Barack Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder was already investigating the police incidents Kaepernick was decrying.
Holder’s justice department cleared Officer Darren Wilson in the Michael Brown shooting, but that didn’t stop the left from running with the “killer cop” narrative.
Thus far in 2017, in a population of over 320 million, 847 people nationwide have been fatally shot by the police. Of the 847, only 50 were unarmed, and only 15 were black.
While no death is trivial, the outrage from the left that’s fueling these anti-American protests is a glaring overreaction.
This was never about black lives mattering. This was about radical leftists manufacturing a crisis to push an agenda.
