Professional sports have been assaulted by politics.
The NBA has perhaps been the most affected.
And one NBA star used two stunning words to attack Donald Trump.
The Golden State Warriors of the NBA have been crowned by the media, but not for winning four championships in the last eight seasons.
The Warriors have been lauded for their left-wing activism.
In 2019, the Warriors won Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year for their defiance of Donald Trump; the team refused to visit the White House after winning the NBA Finals.
And star point guard Steph Curry, the leader of the team, is still going after Trump and the Republicans.
Curry sat for an interview that quickly turned political.
From Rolling Stone:
“[Curry is] up for taking time to make cameo appearances for candidates in places like Georgia and North Carolina this season. ‘I’m no Herschel Walker over here,’ he tells me, flashing a smile about the ex-NFL running back turned extreme Trumpian troll running for Senate in Georgia. ‘But with the level of influence I know I have, I feel like I’m just getting started on that front.’”
The magazine of course takes a drive-by smack at Walker, who has a good chance of defeating Raphael Warnock for the Georgia Senate seat.
Curry went on to characterize Trump as a “serious threat” in the interview.
Rolling Stone continued:
“[H]e’s not laughing off the other bouncy orange object in the room, either. “Take Trump seriously? Of course,’ Curry says. ‘Most of his rhetoric — before he was president, during his four years, and even now, if he tries to run again — has a tone of divisiveness that doesn’t have a place in our country. As serious and loud as the threat is of him or whoever else is running for office, there’s a similar urgency and a loudness that’s necessary on the other side.’”
Apparently, Curry has no idea just how radical and divisive the Democrats have become.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton wrote off half the country as a “basket of deplorables.”
And just a few weeks ago, Biden declared 74 million Trump voters threats to democracy.
Biden said in an ugly speech, “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic…Not every Republican, not even the majority of Republicans, are MAGA Republicans. Not every Republican embraces their extreme ideology…But there is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country…[H]ere, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”
Democrats are so afraid of Trump coming back, they have to keep the Orange Man Bad narrative going, and they’ll use sports figures like Curry to sell it over and over.
