Tom Brady shocked the football world when he retired.
He did it again when he un-retired shortly after.
And Brady’s final season just hit a stunning snag.
Tom Brady is coming back for one more year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After seven Super Bowl rings and countless accolades, Brady has nothing left to prove, which is why his un-retirement caught everyone by surprise, including his wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
Bündchen had been urging Brady to retire for years, and was reportedly upset when he chose to go back for one more year and fulfill his goal of playing until age 45.
From Page Six:
Tom Brady is very ‘sad’ over his huge spat with wife Gisele Bündchen but insiders say he is focusing on being ‘super dad’ to his children…[T]he model has left their family compound in Tampa, Fla., for Costa Rica following a series of heated arguments over Brady’s shock decision to un-retire from the NFL. He has remained behind for team training. Sources say Brady, 45, is taking care of his and Bündchen’s children, Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 9, plus Jack, his 15-year-old son with ex Bridget Moynahan.”
Brady mysteriously missed 11 days of training camp for personal reasons, which was out of character for Brady.
One wild conspiracy theory had Brady missing camp to film an episode of the contest show The Masked Singer, however Brady shot down those rumors.
It seems as though the real issue was tension at home over the snap decision to play one more season.
Page Six continued:
“A source told us of Brady, ‘He’s very sad at the moment. Friends know they’ve had a serious disagreement this time…It seems that Gisele gets mad and says things like she’s leaving him, but in the past, they’ve always made up. But maybe this time it is more serious…He’s with the kids, and is just trying to be super dad.”
When Brady was asked about his sudden absence from training camp, he explained, “It’s all personal…everyone’s got different situations they’re dealing with. We all have really unique challenges to our life. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of sh*t going on.”
Brady won his seventh Super Bowl in 2020-21 in his first year in Tampa, but his repeat bid fell short in the Divisional Round against the eventual champions, the Los Angeles Rams.
Brady likely wants to go out on top in his final season.
But his “Lance Dance” is going to be more challenging if the off-the-field rumors of discord are true.
A Page Six insider added, “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids…They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind…They have a fiery relationship. Gisele is a bit hot-headed — she has that Brazilian heat.”
Barring something truly unexpected, this will definitely be Brady’s last year in the NFL.
