Robert De Niro is a longtime critic of President Trump. The two-time Academy Award winner has nothing but disdain for Trump and proved it again on Sunday morning in a foul-mouthed laced interview on CNN.
Go figure.
And Robert De Niro dropped the F-bomb twice on national television for any critic of his anti-Trump stance, specifically Fox News and its viewers.
Robert De Niro used to be the greatest actor of his generation with mind-blowing performances in “The Godfather: Part II” as a younger Vito Corleone, as Travis Bickle in “Taxi Driver,” as Michael, the bright-eyed optimist Vietnam soldier, in “The Deer Hunter” and as the infamous pedophile boxer Jake La Motta in “Raging Bull.”
De Niro has a long steady career of stellar achievements in acting but those were in the olden days.
Now you can get his talents for a paltry amount of money in low-budget films that go straight to video-on-demand like his 2016 performance in “The Comedian,” or even before that in the box-office disaster “Dirty Grandpa.”
It seemed like his career was over, but apparently he’s about to make a comeback with Murray Franklin in “Joker” and his already critically acclaimed performance in the upcoming Martin Scorsese gangster epic, “The Irishman,” where he plays the titular character Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran.
In the meantime, De Niro has been spouting off against President Trump. In recent years, he’s used his typical potty mouth routine to express his animosity towards the administration.
But on Sunday morning it was by far the worst it’s ever been.
CNN host Brian Stelter was happy to have the 76-year-old actor on his show that morning but even he was shocked to hear the tough-guy shtick De Niro is famous for using.
De Niro said about Trump first that he “should not be president, period.”
But that’s when things took a turn for the worst.
Stelter then stated, “And when you say that, folks on Fox come after you.” De Niro through his hand down as if to say, “forget them.” Stelter brought up his 2018 Tony Awards Speech when he cursed, “F—k Trump,” saying “when you got up there and cursed.”
De Niro cut him off: “F—k’em.” And then reiterated, “F—k’em.”
A CNN employee offstage uncomfortably yelled, “Whoa!”
De Niro seemed to reel it back in that moment with “Sorry. Sorry.”
Stelter uncomfortably noted, “Well, you know, this is cable, so it’s not an FCC [Federal Communications Commission] violation, but it is still a Sunday morning, Why do you choose to go that way?”
In other words, why do you have to use curse words to convey your point?
De Niro elaborated, “We are in a moment in our lives, in this country, where this guy is like a gangster. We say over and over again, ‘This is terrible, we’re in a terrible situation, we’re in a terrible situation,’ and this guy just keeps going on and on and on without being stopped.”
Of course, liberal Twitter raved about De Niro as it became the top viral subject on the social media site on Sunday morning. De Niro has always spread vitriol against Trump like in August 2016 when he called the then-Republican nominee, “totally nuts.”
Or that one time when he described Trump as “an idiot, a national disaster, an embarrassment to this country,” while also calling him a “fool” and a “bozo.”
But while CNN can pretend it was shocked by those comments, it’s pretty obvious they were overjoyed with it considering how much the video spread on social media. It was a huge victory for them. While else would they have the actor on knowing how much he despises President Trump. They were hoping for this to happen.
