The NBA finds themselves in the biggest predicament since the conception of the league decades ago.
They find themselves having to choose between standing up for the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the billions of dollars they make off China after Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey sent a pro-Democracy tweet towards Hong Kong protestors.
And in how NBA has handled the situation thus far has proven the league to be the biggest hypocrites in the world over this scandal.
The NBA: what a joke.
How many times have you seen players and even the NBA’s commissioner Adam Silver advocate for social justice issues in the face of what they think is governmental oppression?
What they mean is if it’s governmental oppression from the right. When former President Barack Obama was in office players flocked to visit the White House when they won championships.
But the moment President Trump was inaugurated, the game changed. Some teams still visited the White House under his administration thus far, but many refused to go because they think of him as a tyrannical dictator.
And, yet, the second China throws a wrench in the plans what do they do? They come groveling like a bunch of pathetic hypocritical cowards.
Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey recently tweeted out his support for Hong Kong pro-Democracy protesters, which was consequently met with an iron fist from China.
Already, China has seized television airings of the NBA preseason games and are threatening much more if they don’t recant their position of a tweet that offends its authoritarian regime.
But what are the NBA players saying right now?
Houston Rockets star player and former MVP of the NBA, James Harden, actually apologized to China saying, “We apologize. You know, we love China. We love playing there. For both of us individually (Russell Westbrook beside him), we go there once or twice a year. They show us the most important love.”
Here’s where it gets obnoxiously hypocritical.
Why do these NBA players have such a disdain towards President Trump?
Where are these NBA players that stick up for social justice issues right now? Don’t they hate it when their Free Speech is censored?
When LeBron James and Kevin Durant, the two biggest superstar basketball players in the NBA, said they couldn’t stand President Trump, Laura Ingraham of Fox News infamously said, “Just shut up and dribble.”
These NBA players responded they were “more than just an athlete.”
Okay. So, speak up, right?
When North Carolina passed the HB-2 law that effectively made it so transgenders weren’t allowed to choose the bathrooms that specifically fit their gender, the NBA pulled its All-star game out of Charlotte due to that law.
They slammed down that iron fist in the same way China did.
So what happened? Why are they not sticking up for themselves against China?
Answer: money.
It’s all about the Benjamin’s.
They actually don’t care about Free Speech or progressive rights; they care about making as much money as possible. That’s why James Harden contradicted what his own general manager had to say. That’s why they didn’t visit the White House. That’s why none of the other superstar athletes are supporting Daryl Morey’s right to Free Speech.
It’s because of money. They are all a bunch of whiny spoiled multimillionaire hypocrites.
