Sometimes politicians reach across party lines in order to compromise, but it’s also rare when that happens. The country is never more divided than it is right now and it’s creating an aggressive violent culture amongst Democrats and Republicans.
However, since President Trump got elected, it’s nonstop Democrats in Congress who are fueling this vitriolic rhetoric that actually trickles down to Americans across the country. For instance, when Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell or former Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders getting heckled out of restaurants.
But this surging Democrat just challenged Sen. Ted Cruz in a charity basketball game and Cruz accepted.
Sen. Ted Cruz is not a good basketball player. But neither is ABC’s host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Jimmy Kimmel. They’re both horrendous.
In June 2018, after constant ribbing from Jimmy Kimmel, Texas Senator Ted Cruz challenged him to a game of one-on-one basketball, and Kimmel surprisingly accepted to play for his resignation, but then they settled on it being a charity game.
It certainly wasn’t predictable after Kimmel has expended so much energy vilifying Sen. Cruz for “reprehensible” actions such as supporting Second Amendment rights.
Despite the noble act of holding a charity game, it was obnoxious to watch both Kimmel and Cruz play basketball against each other because they were so horrific. It was like two guys playing with blindfolds on.
But surging Democratic candidate for president Andrew Yang challenged Cruz this time. Yang, who is an Asian American, is one of the only candidates that doesn’t have governmental experience.
He’s an entrepreneur and found of Venture for America. On the website it says Venture for America is “creating economic opportunity in American cities by mobilizing the next generation of entrepreneurs and equipping them with the skills and resources they need to create jobs.”
Essentially what they do is work with startups to develop their company and concepts.
A video of Yang playing basketball didn’t exactly look much better than either Cruz or Kimmel.
That’s when Fox News Producer, Pat Ward, retweeted the viral video of Yang playing basketball that he wanted to see a game between Yang and Cruz.

At first, Cruz threw some shade at Yang.
Cruz replied, “Sorry. You gotta poll at 5% or more to play on my court.”
Yang quickly responded with a polling graphic from The Hill that showed Yang was polling at exactly 5%.
Ted I would be delighted to beat you in basketball. 😀🏀 pic.twitter.com/RHFrdAfcZ9

Cruz accepted but proposed a game different from the one-on-one like he did with Kimmel. https://offthewire.com/jimmy-kimmel-and-ted-cruz-are-battling-in-a-way-nobody-saw-coming/
Bring it. 4 on 4, you plus three of your paid staffers vs me and three of my paid staffers (no outside ringers). Say, this Friday afternoon in Houston? The loser gives $5k to the (non-political) charity of the winner’s choice? Game? https://t.co/HVlssiJEA5

But Yang insisted on one-on-one.
Let’s play one-on-one. Give the fans a show. 😀

Cruz finally took him up on the offer replying, “Hmm. You’re taller than I am. From the video, you’re probably a better shot. And, I’ve seen you dunking (on an 8-foot rim). Altogether, pretty strong. So … JUST BRING IT.”
Will it be just as boring as Cruz vs. Kimmel where the Senator for Texas edged him out? Yes, probably.
But at least it’s for charity.
