Serena Williams keeps distracting people from her greatness with annoying antics.
The 23-time grand slam champion has become more “woke” as her career has progressed.
Now Williams has appeared in one Nike ad that pushed an obnoxious political message.
Leftists don’t care about truth, only power.
In the 1960s when radical leftists had no institutional power, they were free speech warriors.
Now that they’ve been able to seep into positions of power in media, academia, and Hollywood, they believe free speech is “problematic.”
They want to quash dissent so their bad ideas won’t be exposed.
Also, leftists boast about how strong their idols are, while simultaneously bathing in victimhood culture.
That’s why leftist icons cannot be attacked in any way.
It’s why the left says all women who accuse a man of rape must be believed unless she points the finger at Bill Clinton or other prominent Democrats.
Power trumps logic and consistency.
One current example of such a protected left-wing icon is Serena Williams.
Williams will likely go down as the greatest female tennis player of all-time.
But that isn’t enough for the left.
In an interview, tennis legend John McEnroe called her the best women’s player in history, hands down.
But the interviewer questioned why McEnroe qualified her as merely the best “women’s” player.
McEnroe was taken aback by the question and pointed out the biological reality that men have an obvious physical advantage over women.
McEnroe said she would be the 700th ranked men’s player, which other tennis experts felt was generous.
The “woke” mainstream media predictably jumped all over McEnroe for his comments, but McEnroe refused to back down.
Williams had an opportunity to defuse the situation, but she didn’t.
However, in an old late-nite comedy interview, Williams openly acknowledged she would get crushed playing against male tennis pros.
Williams’s political “evolution” is proof that social justice makes people dumber.
Now Williams both appeared in and narrated a Nike advertisement for female empowerment in sports:
Nike – Dream Crazier
Show them what crazy dreams can do. #justdoit
The ad creates a false narrative that there’s a nefarious group of people out there against women competing in sports.
The great irony is the radical left is actively undoing the gains feminists made in their fight for equality by discarding women in place of a new aggrieved group, transgender women.
Openly gay tennis legend Martina Navratilova was excoriated by the hard left for speaking the truth about the obvious physical advantage transgender women have over biological women.
The ad also conveniently left out Williams’s temper tantrum at the U.S. Open when she melted down during a loss to upstart Naomi Osaka.
Williams lost her composure after the chair umpire docked her a point for repeated outbursts.
Osaka’s first major title was obscured by Williams’s childish outburst; Osaka covered her face in embarrassment as the pro-Serena booed during the trophy presentation.
Williams and the Nike ad are sending out mixed signals.
Should women strive to be victors or victims?
