The mainstream media is heavily biased toward the left.
Megyn Kelly tried to offer somewhat of a counterweight on NBC, but she was summarily terminated.
But now Kelly is getting the last laugh on NBC.
The last few years for Megyn Kelly have been bizarre.
She first grew to prominence on Fox News as a strong interviewer with a prosecutor’s background.
The right-of-center network turned her into a star.
But all of that changed when Kelly served as a debate moderator during the Republican primary and attacked Donald Trump.
That incident, as well as a legal battle over sexual harassment by deceased Fox News kingmaker Roger Ailes, spurred Kelly to leave the network.
Suddenly, the left had a “newfound respect” for Kelly.
She received plaudits on mainstream shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, who acted as if he’d just learned of her existence.
Kelly landed at NBC with a lucrative deal in hand.
However, her Fox News audience didn’t follow her, and the love from the left fizzled after her “takedown” of Trump vanished into the abyss of old news cycles.
Kelly struggled in the ratings, and all of a sudden her new bosses at NBC were dismayed by the fact she actually has a conservative bent.
For example, Kelly went against the Democrat Media Complex and stood up against the insane accusations against Brett Kavanaugh.
Her tenure at NBC ended shortly thereafter.
Kelly was fired due to a manufactured scandal when she said blackface as part of a Halloween costume wasn’t considered racist when she was a kid if it was homage to a revered figure.
The left smelled blood in the water, and they went on the attack.
Even though none of the panelists or audience members had a problem with Kelly’s comments, other NBC colleagues like Craig Melvin and Al Roker ripped into a Kelly, which was a clear sign she wasn’t long for the network.
There’s no way an inter-network hit job like that would’ve happened without approval from the higher-ups.
Kelly offered a tear-filled apology, but it wasn’t enough to save her.
NBC cut her loose.
The Kelly saga highlighted blatant hypocrisy on the part of the left.
Leftists apparently have no problem with Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, and Jimmy Fallon—who works for the same network as Kelly—actually performing in blackface.
The truth is NBC was looking for a reason to get rid of her because she called out network executive Andy Lack for his mishandling of in-house sexual harassment claims.
But Kelly got her revenge.
NBC was forced to pay Kelly $30 million, which was the remainder of her $69 million contract.
So Kelly walked away with all of her money despite only being in the second year of her agreement.
This was an expensive lesson for both NBC and Kelly.
NBC learned that conservatives actually say conservative things, so if they wanted uniformity in messaging, they hired the wrong person.
And Kelly learned that conservatives are only tolerated by the left as long as necessary.
Leftists were entranced by Kelly when she went after Trump, but the spell was broken after her first conservative utterance.
