Over the years, Hollywood has decayed into an insufferable liberal echo chamber.
Leftists congratulate themselves on their brilliance and moral rectitude while anyone who disagrees with them must stay quiet if they want to work.
But one Hollywood writer just called the left for their oppressive politics in one biting interview.
Liberals were certain Hillary Clinton was going to win the 2016 election. It had been preordained.
Clinton strategically chose to have her election night celebration at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, where she would break its proverbial glass ceiling.
The pollsters gave Trump a minuscule chance of victory, but liberals worst fear gradually unfolded as state after state slipped away from Clinton.
In the wake of Clinton’s crushing defeat, the reality of Donald Trump being president still hasn’t set in for many on the left.
Due to the widespread hysteria of liberals, which has been ginned up by the mainstream media, Trump Derangement Syndrome was actually given a clinical name: Trump Anxiety Disorder.
And Hollywood has it in spades.
An array of actors, directors, producers, and writers have screeched incessantly about Trump in one form or another.
So many leftists have made jokes about murdering Trump (Johnny Depp, Madonna, Kathy Griffin, etc…), the term “assassination chic” was coined.
However, someone people in entertainment have pushed back against the outrage monster.
Libertarian comedian Owen Benjamin, conservative actor James Woods, and music mogul Kanye West are just a few that have refused to jump on the Trump-bashing train.
Now renowned novelist and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis is speaking out against the unbearable cloud of identity politics, and outrage and PC culture run amok.
During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Ellis — who is openly gay — was asked whether or not he worried about gay marriage being repealed under the Trump administration.
Ellis responded:
“It’s not something that I worry about, or is on my mind…That’s the problem with identity politics, and it’s what got Hillary into trouble. If you have a vagina, you had to vote for Hillary. This has seeped into a bedrock credo among a lot of people, and you’ve gotta step back…People are not one-issue voters…I am not going to vote as a gay man, and I don’t think the idea of us not being allowed to marry is going to happen…I also have gay friends who support and voted for Trump, based on certain policies. It’s not just about being gay and being able to marry.”
Ellis’ statement is heresy to people on the left. They don’t believe in individualism, only the collective.
Therefore, all gay people must vote for Hillary Clinton, even though she (and Barack Obama) was against gay marriage in 2008.
All black people must vote for Hillary, even though, as First Lady, she referred to black youths as “superpredators” in support of Bill Clinton’s crime bill, and pandered for the black vote by carrying around hot sauce in her purse for a radio interview.
The left is so intolerant to the idea of individual freedom, they attack anyone who doesn’t toe the collectivist line.
Ellis noted that angst-ridden liberals have ruined multiple dinner parties he’s attended or hosted:

During the interview, Ellis also said he expects more people like Kanye West to speak out against the outrage machine.
West endured a deluge of negative press, but ultimately he survived, and released a well-received album after the backlash.
Will Smith even praised Kanye West for his stance, which can be dangerous in Hollywood.
It appears more and more people are fed up with the culture of silencing and shaming, even in Hollywood.
