Jussie Smollett became infamous when he allegedly lied about two “MAGA” supporters jumping him on the streets of Chicago. But then new evidence was uncovered that Smollett staged the whole attack.
The former “Empire” actor was charged with 16 Felonies as a result and instead of Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx prosecuting to the fullest extent of the law, she decided to drop all charges.
And now there’s an explosive new update in the Jussie Smollett case that shows he’s not out of the water yet.
Jussie Smollett caused irreparable harm on a national level when he tried to demonize President Trump’s supporters as violent – and with two side orders of racist and homophobic – considering he’s both black and homosexual.
People in Hollywood ate it up and accepted Smollett’s claim as being an undeniable fact – demonizing all Trump supporters as being violent homophobes (Smollett is homosexual).
Smollett was charged with 16 felonies and was bonded out for $10,000 while he awaited trial.
However, a Chicago judge has just ordered the unsealing of Empire star Jussie Smollet’s criminal case file.
Judge Steven G. Watkins said on Thursday that although Smollett’s lawyers had argued the court documents should remain sealed to protect Smollett’s privacy, this is inconsistent with Smollett’s decision to speak publicly to the media about the case after the charges against him were dropped.
Judge Watkins noted, “These are not the actions of a person seeking to maintain his privacy or simply be let alone,” and later also said, “court cannot credit his privacy interest as good cause to keep the case records sealed.”
The records were not released immediately.
But this isn’t just bad for Smollett; this could be really damaging to Foxx’s career since she was the one who made the executive decision to drop all the charges. What if the case file reveals obvious evidence that concluded Smollett undeniably lied about being jumped by MAGA supporters?
Foxx was not popular when she dropped his charges, which would suggest there is evidence in his case file that proves his guilt.
The anonymous state’s attorney letter said, “The State’s Attorney’s Office (SAO) is an international laughingstock, as politicians, comedians, scholars, legal pundits and regular ol’ citizens alike blast its handling of the case against Jussie Smollett. The criticism is pointed squarely at Kim Foxx..” and later noted, “In the wake of said criticism, Ms. Foxx speaks at a Rainbow PUSH coalition meeting and states she cannot run an office ‘driven by anger and public sentiment.’ She says ‘the goal posts change’ when an African-American takes the position of head prosecutor, seemingly calling the critique of the SAO’s handling of the Smollett case racially-based and derogatory toward her people.”
One rumor that circled immediately when Foxx dropped the charges was former First Lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff Tina Tchen allegedly reached out to the State’s Attorney about the Smollett case on February 1st because he was friends with both of the Obamas. It’s unclear what they spoke about.
Once the criminal case file is released to the public journalists will read through it and all of the damaging evidence will come to fruition.
Then we will all know.
