Bill Maher talks a lot of talk; he dishes out insults and condescension frequently but can he actually take it?
HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” is one of the most insufferable liberal propaganda shows on all of television that could easily rival any show on CNN or MSNBC by a long shot.
And Bill Maher was just dealt the most humiliating defeat and insult of his career and he handled it like a whiny offended teenager.
Bill Maher might be the biggest self-proclaimed liberal in Hollywood but you might be surprised to learn there is a huge Hollywood faction that doesn’t particularly care for the HBO star.
In fact, if you ever watch his show “Real Time with Bill Maher” things get a little surreal when he berates his audience for not laughing at the appropriate time or when he tells an offensive joke that they groan at. It literally happens at least once an episode. That’s the certifiable conceit and condescension Maher brings to HBO on Friday nights.
And things got a whole lot worse on this past Friday night’s episode when Freshman California Representative Katie Porter hilariously demolished Maher when they were talking about the Hyde amendment, a law that bans federal funding for abortions. Former Vice President Joe Biden recently reversed his decision to support the Hyde amendment, which stirred the liberal base quite a bit.
Rep. Porter said, “Biden’s trying to make a political decision here. And failing still to recognize that this a personal decision. Even when he talked about it, he couldn’t quite get the word out.”
This is when Maher inserted himself into the discussion – every right to do so considering it’s his show – and shared a surprising detail that he was on the fence about abortion (meaning being anti-abortion) calling it “squishy” because his mother almost aborted him due to a difficult birth with his older sister.
Then Porter callously said, “Well, Bill, your mother made a choice and we all are living with the consequences of it.”
The audience laughed. The panel laughed. Bill Maher did not laugh.
Forget the idea that it’s an atrocious joke to say to anybody, that the world would be a better place if only you had been aborted.
But that’s not the point. The point is Maher says these kind of heinous jokes all the time and even disingenuously laughs at his own jokes because, as we all know, his arrogance is through the roof.
The point is that for some reason this was off limits, ie joking about him specifically.
And, again, you’d probably be surprised that many Hollywood liberals pointed this exact caveat out on Twitter when Rep. Porter’s joke went viral on social media.
