Hollywood has become completely overtaken by Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Some of the biggest actors and directors in film and television have been reduced to shrill squawk boxes that regurgitate left-wing talking points without any basis of fact.
Now comedian Amy Schumer has ratcheted up the rhetoric and made an absurd demand of all United States senators.
Amy Schumer’s career is in flux. The comedian made a name for herself as a politically incorrect comic whose act included lewd sex jokes.
As her career took off, Schumer had to endure claims of joke-stealing, a cardinal sin in the comedy world. Several of Schumer’s jokes and sketches were conspicuously similar to the work of other comics.
Schumer survived the controversy but lost credibility with many. She was also accused of telling a joke that was racist against Mexicans, which isn’t shock considering how irreverent her act is.
Schumer ultimately apologized, and more fans fell away.
After a hot start, Schumer’s star is beginning to burn out. Her latest comedy special bombed, and she blamed the bad feedback on right-wing trolls, who have become the new bogeyman for people on the left whose work is panned.
Her last two films have also been box office and critical flops.
Now Schumer sits at the crossroads and has chosen to be politically strident in order to get back in good graces.
Washed-up comic Kathy Griffin has chosen this path, and the left has all but welcomed her back into the clubhouse.
Schumer isn’t close to that level of pariah, but she could use an easy win, so virtue-signaling her liberal bona fides is a logical move.
That’s why Schumer recently demanded that all senators vote “no” on any Supreme Court nomination that might overturn Roe v. Wade.

First of all, it’s unclear whether or not Trump’s selection, Brett Kavanaugh, would vote to overturn the infamous 1973 case.
Second, senators don’t represent Amy Schumer. They represent their constituents. If their voters are predominantly pro-life and they were elected on a pro-life platform, there shouldn’t be any expectation they would vote the way Amy Schumer wants.
This is a perfect example of the narcissism of the left. They want to ram policy down people’s throats even if it’s not supported by the constitution, and it’s not the will of the people.
The left doesn’t engage in this type of introspection. It’s their way or the highway. They’ve become accustomed to Hollywood puppets successfully pushing their propaganda on the public, but Donald Trump burst that bubble by pulling off one of the most shocking electoral victories in American history.
Hollywood has lost some of its cultural influence, and the left can’t stand it. They need a full media monopoly, but mainstream media continue to lose credibility.
Celebrities like Schumer can chirp as loud as they want, but they’re going to need more substance to move the needle in any realistic way.
And ironically, Norma McCorvey, the woman at the center of Roe v. Wade, became a devout Catholic and pro-life advocate.
