Would you be surprised if Hollywood wasn’t embroiled in a scandal?
The Me Too Movement swept the nation and it was largely Hollywood royalty that committed those alleged sex crimes. If you blink you might miss all the deception coming out of Hollywood.
And two big time Hollywood actresses were just charged in a massive cheating scandal.
Two actresses, Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, were just uncovered in a massive college cheating scandal.
Loughlin and Huffman have been at the center of the ongoing college bribery scandal. The two women, along with 43 other people, have been sued by a mother from the Bay Area who accuses the parents involved in the scandal for scamming their children into college educations.
Jennifer Kay Toy, a teacher from Oakland, Calif., said her son Joshua did not get into many of the schools implicated in a wide ranging college admissions scandal involving the actresses.
She claimed, “Joshua applied to some of the colleges where the cheating took place and did not get in. And I believed that he’d had a fair chance just like all other applicants but did not make the cut for some undisclosed reason. I’m outraged and hurt because I feel that my son, my only child, was denied access to a college not because he failed to work and study hard enough but because wealthy individuals felt that it was ok to lie, cheat, steal and bribe their children’s way into a good college.”
Huffman and Loughlin were among the roughly 30 parents charged Tuesday in what officials have called the “largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice.”
Those involved in the scam allegedly sought to get students admitted to colleges and universities by forging athletic records, bribing coaches and cheating on college entrance exams.
Toy’s is not the first lawsuit following the reveal of the scam.
Two Stanford University students filed a lawsuit against eight elite universities arguing they were not given an equal admission opportunity and that their degrees are less valuable because of the scandal.
Most people probably looked at this story as a non-story. Who really cares? This kind of thing happens all the time right?
Not on this level.
Loughlin’s daughter was literally on a yacht with a USC donor when this story broke. She’s eighteen years old.
The Fuller House star’s career has floundered in recent years but she was a Hallmark television star and now both of the networks have fired her because of these new allegations.
Felicity Huffman is a far cry from what her career once was with Desperate Housewives and TransAmerica.
It makes you think about what the parents’ role in a life should be and whether just because they are rich should affect their future goals? Nepotism is immediately what comes to mind.
