Senatorial hopeful Beto O’Rourke quickly became one of Hollywood’s favorites in the Texas race.
But that “hope” instantly came crashing down when he lost to Senator Ted Cruz.
And now many people, including an NBA coach, thinks that O’Rourke could challenge President Trump in 2020.
Beto O’Rourke had a meteoric rise in the Texas senate race.
But that rise wasn’t enough to fend off Senator Ted Cruz from a repeat.
Many leftists think that O’Rourke could be the Democrats’ answer to defeat Trump in 2020.
Many leftists think that O’Rourke could be the Democrats’ answer to defeat Trump in 2020
One of those liberals is Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
He simply tweeted on election night, “Beto 2020.”
Beto 2020
— Steve Kerr (@SteveKerr) November 7, 2018
Kerr is a longtime critic of President Trump.
Trump wanted a military parade but cancelled the event when the price tag for it was too high.
After that, the world champion Philadelphia Eagles cancelled their trip to visit Trump at the White House.
Instead, Trump held a patriotic event to celebrate America where many people came to celebrate America.
Kerr said, “The president is turning all of this stuff into a political game and a ratings game and it’s a blatant display of nationalism. What patriotism is, is helping your fellow citizen and whether it’s what [Kevin Durant] is doing or what we did when we visited Washington or what the Lynx are doing today, that’s what patriotism is about.”
There is no political stunt here.
It’s not a game.
Trump is tired of the relentless harsh criticism.
It comes at him from all directions.
Has there ever been a president that’s been under the microscope quite like this?
The Golden State Warriors declined a visit to the White House after their 2017 world championship.
Steph Curry was asked if he would visit the White House to celebrate their victory and he said he wouldn’t because of Trump.
Trump would have welcomed the world champions but Curry bitterly refused to go.
Curry bitterly refused to go
That’s why Trump disinvited the whole team.
You may recall why liberals fell in love with Beto O’Rourke.
O’Rourke was asked about the NFL players who kneel during the National Anthem.
He said, “And so nonviolently, peacefully, while the eyes of this country are watching these games, they take a knee to bring our attention and our focus to this problem to ensure that we fix it. That is why they are doing it. And I can think of nothing more American than to peacefully stand up, or take a knee, for your rights, any time, anywhere, in any place.”
That video went viral instantly.
But O’Rourke is wrong.
O’Rourke wants to justify their actions under the First Amendment.
But that’s not what it says.
The First Amendment only protects citizens from government prosecution.
It does not refer to an employer and employee relationship.
Company owners have every right to fire an employee for continually harming their business.
That’s what these NFL players who kneeled did.
Their actions affected the owners’ bottom lines.
But a lot of celebrities loved O’Rourke’s incorrect comments.
One of them is superstar NBA player LeBron James who recently wore a “Beto” hat when the Lakers visited the San Antonio Spurs.
Other celebrities that embraced Beto include, Beyonce, Rosie O’Donnell, Judd Apatow, Alyssa Milano, Ellen DeGeneres and Willie Nelson.
O’Rourke outspent Ted Cruz by nearly $25 million and still lost.
Do you think Beto has a shot against Trump in 2020?
