Elon Musk is already making a fuss as the new owner of Twitter.
Prominent liberals are already vowing to leave the platform.
And Stephen King was furious when Musk announced one new Twitter policy.
Elon Musk actually followed through with his mission to buy Twitter and take the company private.
Musk was fed up with the culture of censorship that had taken root among old ownership, and he wanted to do something about it.
Now that Musk owns the company, he needs to make it a profitable business, and one of his plans is to charge users $8 per month in order to have a “verified user” blue checkmark.
In the past, the blue checkmarks were doled out arbitrarily—reserved for celebrities and “mainstream” journalists—but Musk wants to open up the verification identifier for everyone who wants it.
Right on cue, the blue-checkmark liberals went berserk.
Far-left novelist Stephen King balked at paying for blue checkmark status; the initial proposal was $20 for the signifier.
King tweeted, “$20 a month to keep my blue check? F*ck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron,” to which Musk replied, “We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?”
King has constantly used his Twitter account to express his Trump Derangement Syndrome and general disgust for Republicans.
King and other leftists who are addicted to Twitter would have to be pried away from using the platform.
The $8 price point for a blue checkmark has sent the liberals into a furor, and Musk continues to poke them.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was particularly upset over the new policy.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that ‘free speech’ is actually a $8/mo subscription plan.”
Her argument makes no sense at all.
Left-wing public figures like Ocasio-Cortez cannot comprehend being on Twitter without their blue checkmark verification badge of honor.
Meanwhile, right-wing accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers struggled to get verified, or were flat-out rejected.
The Christian satire site The Babylon Bee was denied a blue checkmark for months despite having close to 1 million followers and plenty of name recognition.
Coincidentally, The Bee getting banned for a joke was the impetus for Musk endeavoring to buy Twitter.
Musk cheekily replied to Ocasio-Cortez, “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8.”

Musk later responded with a humorous tweet that showed how much she charges for merchandise on her website.

The Twitter account Libs of TikTok purported that all of the proceeds from Ocasio-Cortez’s merch goes to her campaign coffers; none goes to charity, as she claimed.
In an exchange with a CNN contributor, Musk only replied, “$8.”

Musk also highlighted the fact that the outraged liberals are willing to pay $8 for coffee at Starbucks, but $8 for a beloved blue checkmark is a bridge too far.

The Musk era at Twitter is already off to an interesting start because leftists simply do not know what to do.
