Sports have become increasingly political over the past few years.
Athletes have been dutifully parroting Democrat Party talking points.
But one star NFL quarterback called out the disgusting thing the Democrats are doing.
The NFL has become more and more “woke” since Colin Kaepernick started the anti-American anthem protest.
Since then, players in all sports have been bullied to toe the progressive line regarding politics.
But Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going against the grain and calling out Democrat politicians for their hypocrisy on the Wuhan virus.
Not only did Rodgers donate $500,000 to Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy’s fund to help struggling bars and restaurants that have been put under the thump by pro-lockdown politicians, but Rodgers pointed out that many politicians are breaking their own COVID lockdown orders.
During an interview, Rodgers said:
“I mean, they put these rules in place. They’re not even following their own rules. I mean, how many people have gotten caught? ‘Don’t travel. Don’t leave the state.’ Oh, here’s so-and-so on a vacation. Oh, here’s so-and-so at a salon. ‘Don’t eat out at a restaurant unless you’re wearing a mask and separate.’ Oh, here’s a picture of the governor of California violating those rules. Oh, public schools are closed, but I can send my kids to a private school in person…For us to count on the government to help us out is becoming a joke at this point.”
Rodgers is completely right.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been one of the worst at violating his own COVID restrictions.
Newsom twice got caught dining in indoor restaurants while his state was locked down, but he wasn’t the only Democrat politician busted disregarding his own orders.
In one particularly infuriating video, a bar owner in Los Angeles named Angela Marsden was forced to shut down her outdoor dining area while a movie production was allowed to set up its own outdoor dining tents right next to hers.
Sadly, similar stories of tyrannical shutdowns have popped up all over the country.
Gym owners are being fined six figures for violating arbitrary COVID measures in New Jersey, houses of worship have been surveilled to make sure that congregants aren’t gathering, and officials have threatened to cut off services to businesses that don’t adhere to lockdown orders.
The American people have had enough, and Rodgers is tapping into their frustration.
The lockdowns put the NFL season in jeopardy every step of the way, but the league made it through and there are only two games left.
Unlikely for Rodgers, due to COVID, Rodgers’ Packers will not have a big home-field advantage in the upcoming NFC championship game.
And it’s still unclear how many fans will show up for the Super Bowl.
COVID turned 2020 into a complete disaster, and the hysterics aren’t letting up in the early part of 2021.
