Conservatives had a hit primetime television show to watch, but it didn’t last long.
The reboot of “Roseanne” was yanked off the air after Roseanne Barr posted one regrettable tweet.
Now Roseanne gives the real reason she was so quickly dismissed by ABC.
The left’s monopoly on Hollywood has been consolidated over decades. What once began as an industry that had many prominent conservatives has devolved into an incestuous pool of leftism.
Only a handful of established conservatives are tolerated by Hollywood. The others have to suppress their political views for fear of blacklisting.
In this echo chamber of leftism, a few television shows and movies with a right-leaning perspective are allowed to exist, and they often become ratings successes.
It turns out the entire party of America that doesn’t reside on the coasts appreciates fare that isn’t blatantly left-wing.
Such was the case with Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” and the “Roseanne” reboot.
Allen, a known conservative, saw his show get canceled despite being the second-highest rated comedy on ABC. After a groundswell of support, the show will be returning in the fall.
Roseanne’s show was a ratings bonanza for ABC, far exceeding expectations for the premiere and the finale.
But all of that went away because of one tweet.
Roseanne made an offensive tweet aimed at top Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett where she compared her looks to a character from “Planet of the Apes.”
Roseanne immediately apologized, but the damage was already done. The pitchforks came out and Roseanne’s show was canceled posthaste.
She has since been banished from polite society by the left, but she resurfaced to tell her side of the story.
Roseanne said on her YouTube channel:
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks…I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste…When ABC called and asked me to explain my ‘egregious and unforgivable tweet,’ I told them I thought Valerie Jarrett was white. And I also said I am willing to go on The View, Jimmy Kimmel, or whatever other show you want me to go on and explain that to my audience…Instead what happened was about 40 minutes after that my show was canceled before even one advertiser pulled out and I was labeled a racist…Why, you ask? Well, the answer is simple. It’s because I voted for Donald Trump and that is not allowed in Hollywood.”
Critics also tried to label Roseanne an anti-Semitic because of an old joke tweet, ignoring the fact both of her parents were Jewish immigrants.
But the racist narrative was already complete, so the truth was no longer a defense. If Roseanne had been a liberal in good standing instead of a vocal Trump supporter, she likely would’ve been allowed to keep her show.
Recently, a string of Hollywood actors and filmmakers have been called out for making reprehensible jokes about pedophilia on Twitter, and unsurprisingly the left has come to their defense.
This is the type of hypocrisy that has become synonymous with the left. It’s all fun and games until a conservative says something off-color. Then the pitchforks come out.
Roseanne isn’t even traditionally conservative. She was just fed up with Democratic policies that left many people in Middle America dispossessed and afraid to speak out because of stifling political correctness.
Many Trump supporters who were two-time Obama voters felt the exact same way, but they’ve all been labeled racists.
ABC has decided to bring back the entire cast of “Roseanne” without the central figure. The show is going to be an absolute disaster without the character everyone tuned in to watch.
After it flops, the left will likely declare it failed because racists chose to abandon the show.
