10) The Outlaw Josey Wales
The Civil War revenge saga that was adapted from a novel about a post-war Confederate soldier who teams up with renegade guerillas after Union soldiers murdered his wife and son in cold blood.
It’s relentless and it might be the most anti-pacifist movie of all time. Addressing the elephant in the room, this movie is certainly controversial given that he’s a Confederate soldier and the Union soldiers are the bad guys. Also, the novel was written by a noted white supremacist, Forrest Carter.
If you can get past that, it’s a great movie that demonstrates the complexity of revenge and how ruthless it can be.
