Sports viewership is down across the board.
Fans are sick and tired of millionaire athletes and “woke” journalists shoving progressive politics down their throats.
And a racist former ESPN host made a crazy comment about one anti-American protest.
Former SportsCenter host Jemele Hill has become the number race-baiter in sports media.
She raised her profile by blasting Donald Trump as a white supremacist on multiple occasions.
Hill defended Joe Biden when he quipped to a radio host “you ain’t black” when trying to pander to black voters.
Hill also said that all Trump supporters are racist even though her own mother voted for him.
Now Hill praised the Dallas Mavericks for ending the tradition of playing the national anthem before games.
The NBA told the Mavericks that they were required to play the anthem before games, which rankled Hill.
She wrote in The Atlantic:
“Americans have seen far too many images of white supremacists waving the national flag and shouting patriotic slogans. The insurrectionists at the U.S. Capitol did just that, even as they tried to overturn a free election. Trump and many other Republicans who impugned Kaepernick’s patriotism now want the rest of the country to ignore the Capitol riot and move on. If it wasn’t clear before why people of color feel uncomfortable with the conservative definition of patriotism, it should be now.”
This is asinine.
First, Kaepernick would probably freely admit that he does not feel patriotism toward America.
He’s trashed the country on several occasions, suggesting that the entire system must be “dismantled.”
That doesn’t sound like anyone who feels patriotic about the United States.
Also, the criminals that stormed the Capitol are not indicative of every single Republican.
Hill’s thesis doesn’t even make sense.
If her “patriotism” is simply different, then she and other leftists wouldn’t be so offended by the flag and the anthem of this country.
It’s no surprise the NBA mandated the Mavericks play the anthem before games because the league took an absolute beating in viewership last season during the playoffs.
The NBA fully embraced the radical Black Lives Matter movement and stitched “woke” slogans onto the backs of players’ jerseys.
The virtue-signaling was all the more frustrating for fans because the league essentially sided with the Chinese Communist Party against pro-freedom protesters in Hong Kong, and said nothing about Uyghur Muslims being marched to gulags.
Hill could potentially be joining a new “woke” sports network created by former colleague Dan Le Batard and former ESPN president John Skipper.
The last thing sports fans want is yet another outlet dedicated to progressive politics.
ESPN bleeding subscribers should’ve been a wakeup call for both trio of former employees and the network; ESPN has since moved even further left.
The Pandora’s Box opened by Colin Kaepernick is still creating chaos as the anti-American anthem protests continue to spread.
Far-left journalists like Hill refuse to let them die.
