The NFL flirted with disaster in 2020.
Ratings went in the tank and scheduling became a nightmare due to COVID restrictions.
Now one Pro Bowl quarterback could miss the start of the 2021 season for a jaw-dropping reason.
America’s COVID-19 policies make little sense.
Despite the vaccines being billed as the path to returning to normal life, politicians and public health officials are reluctant to cede their newfound power and notoriety.
One of the consequences is that the NFL season is already in flux.
Even vaccinated players who are asymptomatic are being held out of practices and games.
That’s what happened to Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who was coerced into getting the vaccine.
“Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the club announced Thursday. As a vaccinated player, Tannehill will need two consecutive negative PCR tests over a 24-hour period in order to rejoin the team, if asymptomatic. Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, general manager Jon Robinson said Tannehill is feeling OK.”
Elite professional athletes in remarkable shape are among the least vulnerable to COVID, yet officials are ignoring all of the scientific data.
Also, studies show that not a single professional athlete contracted COVID in 2020 during games.
But all of the science has been discarded for compliance.
More from NFL.com:
“Robinson said the Titans have reached a 97 percent vaccination rate among players. Unvaccinated players who test positive must isolate at least 10 days, and for five days if exposed to high-risk close contacts. The club has conducted widespread testing in recent days, including [head coach Mike] Vrabel, and worked virtually on Wednesday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Vrabel revealed that he tested positive for the virus on Sunday and has yet to test negative.”
The Titans are essentially at full vaccination, well above the target rate for herd immunity, but Tannehill is still forced to sit out.
There have also been studies showing that COVID tests are not terribly reliable and could be giving false positives.
If a vaccinated player like Tannehill gets a positive test at an inopportune time, he could miss a critical game.
Many NFL players are already grumbling at the nonsensical COVID restrictions.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley has been one of the most outspoken members of the league.
Beasley and fellow wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals both said they were considering retirement as a result of the draconian COVID measures.
Professional athletes are incredibly vigilant about what they put in their bodies, yet they’ve been told to inject an experimental drug with no longitudinal studies when they’re at exceedingly low risk of contracting the virus.
Even though the COVID policies don’t follow logic, players have to adhere to them nonetheless.
It’s part of the Democrats’ efforts to make life miserable for anyone who doesn’t get the vaccine.
