Sports have been irreversibly corrupted by politics.
Athletes and sportscasters are now expected to opine on current affairs.
And pro athletes made a mind-numbing argument after one Supreme Court Ruling.
The Supreme Court finally overturned the poorly decided Roe V. Wade in the landmark Dobbs decision.
The high court ruled 6-3 that the abortion question goes back to the individual states.
The left predictably lost its mind with Democrat politicians shrieking and calling for street protests.
Many professional athletes chimed in on the issue.
Anti-American anthem protester Megan Rapinoe obviously condemned the ruling, but stars in the NBA and NFL did so as well.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James tweeted that the ruling was “ABSOLUTELY ABOUT POWER & CONTROL!”
This is a common argument from Democrats, but it has no basis in reality.
The primary issue is that states get to set their own abortion laws, not the federal government because the Constitution does not enumerate a right to an abortion.
Next, the voters of each state determine abortion laws because the baby’s life is at stake.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said, “You can argue and say that I’m pro-choice all you want, but the truth is: I’m pro-life. Their lives. Women’s lives.”
Burrow elides the lie of the child, as so many pro-abortion activists do.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray tweeted, “No one should be able to force their beliefs on anyone’s body, that is not right. Sending love to our women.”
However, Murray did not have much to say when people, including his teammates, were being forced to take the COVID vaccine in order to keep their jobs.
Murray’s teammate tight end Maxx Williams wrote, “Like what I’m saying or not and I hate being political but… Being super close to both my sisters, I am heart broken not only for them but for all woman today. How can a man tell a woman what she Can or Can’t do with her body.”
Williams conveniently ignores all of the women that advocate for the pro-life position.
Also, if there were five Amy Coney Barretts on the Supreme Court who voted the same way, Williams or any other pro-abortion activists would not change their position on the matter.
Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin wrote, “Jesus said ‘love your neighbor’ and defined love as ‘not demanding its own way.’ So don’t believe them when they lie and say this is about God. They don’t know God.”
It’s appalling that Baldwin would invoke God in order to push a pro-abortion message, but this just goes to show how perverted leftists have polluted the culture.
New England Patriots running back Damien Harris wrote, “This is about power and the war on women…Scary, scary times.”
Again, this type of rhetoric is the result of a prolonged culture war where killing babies has become the norm.
Abortion wasn’t even banned, just returned to the individual states.
Yet that has not stopped Democrats and indoctrinated celebrities to throw a fit.
