The Democrats are already frothing at the mouth over the 2020 presidential election.
Several candidates are gearing up for what will likely be a bloody primary.
And media mogul Oprah Winfrey could be throwing her support behind one candidate in particular.
Many leftists predicted Donald Trump wouldn’t even make it this far in his presidency.
Ever since he took office, mainstream media outlets have augured “the beginning of the end” of the Trump administration.
Two years later, Trump has made unprecedented achievements in office.
As reports of the interminable Mueller investigation are looking like yet another nothing-burger, Democrats are resigning themselves to the fact that Trump will at the very least finish out his first term.
And now they have to take him much more seriously than they did at the beginning of the 2016 campaign.
So, the Democrats are getting their ducks in a row.
Many candidates have been positioning themselves for potential runs for a while, including Senators Corey Booker and Kamala Harris, both of whom shamelessly grandstanded during the Brett Kavanaugh Judiciary Committee hearings.
Elizabeth Warren threw her hat in the ring, even after Trump trolled her into insanely taking a DNA test, and even more inexplicably releasing the results.
“Creepy Porn Lawyer” Michael Avenatti was jockeying to become the nominee, and the news networks obliged him with non-stop air time until they finally got bored with him.
But the new hot name for the 2020 Democratic primary is Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke.
His meteoric rise is strange and manufactured, even his name.
O’Rourke adopted the nickname Beto to appeal to Hispanic voters in his district encompassing El Paso.
His record in the House of Representatives was nondescript at best, and he lost to incumbent Senator Ted Cruz, whose popularity waned after he refused to endorse Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
O’Rourke ran as a progressive and got an absurd amount of money and support from Hollywood, but he was too far left for the state of Texas.
O’Rourke even helped migrant caravan travelers settle into the United States.
And that wasn’t the first time.
The investigative journalism outfit Project Veritas recorded O’Rourke’s campaign manager and staffers diverting funds to caravan members, a campaign finance violation.
However, O’Rourke seems to be failing up.
Despite losing to Cruz, many believe O’Rourke is the Democrats’ best shot to defeat Trump.
One of those prominent Democrats is Oprah Winfrey.
After an obnoxious speech at the 2018 Golden Globes where Winfrey lectured the country about the sexual misconduct committed by some of her friends (e.g. Harvey Weinstein) in her industry, some were quick to anoint her as a presidential frontrunner.
But that heat didn’t last long.
Instead, Winfrey is trying to play the role of kingmaker, as she did for Barack Obama back during the 2008 campaign.
Winfrey is inviting O’Rourke to a live Q&A session in New York City where tickets will cost $200.
This could presumably be O’Rourke’s chance to position himself as the leader of the pack.
If O’Rourke does well with Oprah, don’t be surprised if the media gets in line to crown him as their best chance to take down Trump.
