Far-left activists are spreading their ideas everywhere.
They have even made deep inroads into the world of sports.
But one “woke” sports league backed down after Ron DeSantis laid down the law.
The NHL has been caving to the far-left more and more recently.
Despite having one of the most conservative fan bases—according to survey data—the NHL has been pushing “woke” concepts like diversity, equity, and inclusivity, the unholy trinity of modern leftist ideology.
The NHL even announced a shockingly discriminatory “Pathway to Hockey Summit” job fair in the state of Florida, but the league backtracked after Governor Ron DeSantis called out the event that violated civil rights law.
The NHL announced via LinkedIn bulletin board:
“Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend.”
In other words, straight, white males need not apply.
This is the type of divisive nonsense the left has been pushing on all of society, particularly in the universities, the most leftist organizations in the country.
However, top DeSantis staffer Bryan Griffin responded in a statement, “Discrimination of any sort is not welcome in the state of Florida, and we do not abide by the woke notion that discrimination should be overlooked if applied in a politically popular manner or against a politically unpopular demographic. We are fighting all discrimination in our schools and our workplaces, and we will fight it in publicly accessible places of meeting or activity.”
Governor DeSantis declared that Florida is where “woke goes to die,” and thus far, he’s held up his end of the bargain.

The NHL quickly went into damage mode and said that the “original wording to the LinkedIn post associated with the event was not accurate,” per a league spokesperson.
Organizations always do this when they’ve been caught doing something radical.
The spokesperson added, “The Pathway to Hockey Summit is an informational and networking event designed to encourage all individuals to consider a career in our game – and, in particular, alert those who might not be familiar with hockey to the opportunities it offers.”
Of course, the league is only saying this because it got caught red-handed.
The NHL has been trending this way; it issued a report flogging itself for not being “diverse” enough.
Kim Davis, the NHL’s senior executive vice president of social impact, growth initiatives and legislative affairs, explained, “Intentionality is important…The mentorship and development programs allow us to create a diverse pipeline and provide candidates within our ecosystem the exposure, the access, and the opportunity.”
Recently, the NHL caught flak for promoting the “Team Trans Draft,” featuring a transgender hockey league with biological males competing against women.
As soon as radicals get control of the wheel, they put the pedal to the metal until someone takes away the keys.
