Doesn’t it seem like liberals are completely divided about which Democratic candidate and hopeful eventual nominee will save them from President Trump in 2020?
There is a lot of debate about who the leader of the Democratic Party is? Is it former Vice President Joe Biden? Is it Sen. Bernie Sanders? Is it freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? How about Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi?
And one Hollywood director was furious with Nancy Pelosi’s “60 Minutes” interview based around that subject.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi self-anointed herself as the leader of the Democratic Party and nowhere was it more obvious when Sen. Chuck Schumer and the congresswoman refused to negotiate with President Trump on funding for the wall at the southern border.
Many liberals viewed Pelosi as being the strongest Democrat in the Party.
So when Pelosi’s “60 Minutes” interview finally aired about who the real leader of the party is, the Speaker of the House noted that the Party has to be more moderate – subtly pointing to the newest members as being too leftist.
Filmmaker and Academy Award winning director, Michael Moore, was furious about it too.
Moore tweeted, “White people. Nobody likes giving up power. And they never see the writing on the wall. The new day arrives and no one has the heart to tell them they and their old tired privileged ways are over.”
His comment sparked due to a moment in the interview when the “60 Minutes” journalist Lesley Stahl asked Pelosi about AOC and the rest of the progressives saying, “You have these wings – AOC and her group on one side.”
Pelosi shut that down with, “That’s, like, five people.” It’s not just “five people.” The Congressional Progressive Caucus has 98 members and it’s one of the biggest Democratic groups on Capitol Hill.
Stahl rejected Pelosi’s comment with a smirk saying, “more than five.” It was clear that Pelosi recognized the harshness of throwing her Party under the bus with, “Well, I’m progressive – I’m a progressive, yeah.”
Moore wasn’t the only one fueled by the “60 Minutes” interview. It was likely after Trump watched The Masters, he tuned in.
That’s when he wrote, “Such a “puff piece” on Nancy Pelosi by 60 Minutes, yet her leadership has passed no meaningful Legislation. All they do is Investigate, as it turns out, crimes that they instigated & committed. The Mueller No Collusion decision wasn’t even discussed-and she was a disaster at W.H.”
There has been a diffusion of responsibility, cross-aisle political rhetoric and all-around refusal to compromise that has prevented Congress from doing meaningful work for decades. Yet somehow narcissists like Pelosi believe they are making changes and getting stuff done all the time.
Moore is right, there is an enormous problem with senators and congressman/women wearing out their welcomes in Congress. It’s the same people who occupy these offices for decades. And Pelosi is delusional if she thinks that her party isn’t progressively moving left.
